"I Love You Always Forever" was hugely successful on U.S. radio, staying at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 for nine consecutive weeks and spending thirteen consecutive weeks at number one on the airplay chart. It exceeded one million "spins" on radio to claim its place in music industry history as the most-played single up to that point. The single reached number five on the UK Singles Chart in 1996. The popularity of the song shot Lewis's debut album, Now in a Minute, to platinum status.
Her second LP, Blue Planet, won critical acclaim, but it was largely overlooked by the public. Although it eventually produced a U.S. number-one dance single, "Love Him", Lewis parted ways with Atlantic Records and independently produced her third LP, Be Still, which featured Lewis on an almost entirely acoustic set. Lewis was featured as a guest vocalist on several trance music/house music recordings. Her most recent LP, In the Pink, was release in 2008.
Take Me Over

I've made my choice at last
Forever
Here where I belong
With you my love, my friend
No other
Lost inside of you
Take me home
We can run with the rainstorms
We can sit and stare at the world
Confess our secrets to mother earth
And home, down the new road of our life
Through the window of snow fields
And happiness
A new you, a new me
Take me home
Now I understand
The love we give away
We keep forever
Now with tears of joy
I'm soaring free
With you, together
Lost inside of you
I'm breathless floating through
Take me home
We can run with the rainstorms
We can sit and stare at the world
Confess our secrets to mother earth
And home, down the new road of our life
Through the window of snow fields
And happiness
A new you, a new me
Take me home
Come take my hand
My heart, my soul
Come to a place
Loved long ago
Come take my hand
My heart, my soul
Come to a place
Loved long ago
Take me home
We can run with the rainstorms
We can sit and stare at the world
Confess our secrets to mother earth
And home, to the lakes of our childhood
We can leave the meanness behind
Under the sunset skies
And home, to the land of our loved ones
To a place where there's a warm
Hand to hold
A wilderness unknown
And home, down the new road of our life
Through the window of snow fields
And happiness
A new you, a new me
Take me home
Yeah
Take me home
Yeah
Come take my hand
My heart, my soul
Come to a place
Loved long ago
Take me home
The song Take Me Home by Donna Lewis is an emotional and powerful ballad that expresses the longing to be with a loved one. The first verse talks about being finally sure of one's choice to be with the person they love forever, feeling like they belong with them and nobody else. The second verse talks about the realization that the love given away is kept forever, leading to tears of joy and the feeling of being free. The chorus repeats the phrase "Take me home" which signifies the desire to be with the loved one, through rainstorms, snow fields, and the memories of childhood and loved ones. The song ends with an intimate plea to the loved one to take the singer's hand, heart, and soul and go to a place where they loved long ago.
The lyrics to Take Me Home are open to interpretation, but the overall theme seems to be the importance of finding a place of belonging and the desire to be with someone who can offer that. The chorus, in particular, seems to be about the journey back to that place of belonging and finding comfort in the familiar. The song is beautifully written and the lyrics evoke strong emotions in the listener.
