After trying every other method I could find this one finally did the trick. My dash light wouldn't stay on once I inserted my key and it never blinked but I ran through this 10-minute cycle and on the third try my truck fired up without an issue. Huge thank you for the video

This is actually the General Motors on board programming procedure. It takes a total of 30 mins. Turn the key on and leave it on the on position for 10 minutes and then the security light goes off you turn the key to the opposition and immediately turn it back on and the security light returns then you wait another 10 minutes and then you repeat one more time and after the third time it reprogrammed the key to the ECU

Tom, great video. This worked for me for about a week. My 99 GMC Suburban gave me the flashing SECURITY light and the reset/relearn trick worked. Now it's dead in the driveway with the security on and never flashes... no matter how long you wait. I have a new battery and on a charger while I've been trouble shooting this issue. Any other suggestions I should try?

@Austin Albin I ended up replacing the PAS module and then my mechanic reset the Anti-theft code the ECM (Computer) had. Also, one Anti-theft fuse was blown.

I had this problem and after replacing the battery everything works fine. When starting I was getting the Anti Theft pop up, heat wouldn’t work, wipers came on, hazards went on or it needed a jump start.

Thanks for the Video . I have a 2011 Tahoe. Only problem I’m having is the message and light are on… the car starts. I tried the first step and after 15 minutes the lights not going out to allow the second step. Any suggestions? Just wanted to leave this note if it can help out anyone else. I have a 2013 Buick Enclave with the theft deterrent light on. I had changed the battery and everything worked fine until I inserted my second key that had been programmed with the last battery. I think it lost the programming to that key when i changed the battery. when I put the second key in to start the car nothing happened so of course i turned the key again...thereby signaling to the cars computer that someone was trying to steal the car. So my advice...reprogram any secondary keys before starting the car after changing the battery. Unfortunately this procedure did not work for me...BUT thank you Renegade Racing for posting. This is what worked for my 2013 Buick Enclave.....remove the key....disconnect the positive cable to the battery...insert key and turn to the on position(dont start position)..return to battery and connect positive cable....wait five minutes...start the car! When I did this..IT WORKED!!!!! GoodLuck

@Anthony - Yes it did. It allowed me to get the truck started so that I could take it to the dealership. However, the problem was the key to the ignition. I needed a new key. I took it to the dealer and initially it would not "mess up" on them. Then when they tried to start it with the "bad" key it finally "locked up" on them and said "Service Theft Deterrent System". Keep up the good work!

Hey man I’ve used this trick a lot on my 98 s10. It runs perfectly but it’ll do this almost once every week and it just started to do it more frequently. I let it sit for 10 minutes the security light goes off and boom it cranks but why does this keep happening? If you have any info I’d appreciate it thank you!

the signal from the key is going bad it’s got a transponder in it you’ll need to replace the key and have it programmed

This can be bypassed with a 2.2kohm resistor. Look for three wires going to you key cylinder. There is two wires you cut which is black and yellow. Leave the white wire alone. Put the resistor on the yellow and black wire. Then do the 10 learn like before and it will never trip again.

I have a 2006 Pontiac Solstice. The security system locked up. Nothing would work.
I tried this method after reading it in a forum. I had no external power source.
My battery died. And now the key was locked in the ignition and wouldn’t budge. So now. I couldn’t even put it in neutral and push it.
I quit. Depressed and defeated.

Today. I watched your video. In it you said “ It WILL work. Just try it one more time. “
Such simple advice. But I tried it. One more time. And it fired right up!! I guess having it off the battery all night reset the codes. And when I jumped it. Everything came back on normally including the radio.

I have a 2006 Chevy Malibu that the deterrent system device light remains luminated no matter how long I leave the Key turned to the on position. I am at my whit's end with this crap. I even had Locksmiths tell me how to program a key he cut for me, But all it will do is start and stay running for about 15 seconds and cuts back off and tried a number of other thing and nothing I do works. Now I pretty much have a car I paid a couple thousand dollars for I can't even get it crank and remain running. How can I bypass this Bullshit? Any information will be greatly appreciated very much.

This literally just happen 2:58am 8/23/21. So i did. I watched this guy. Mind u the car would not say nothing, then i scrolled down to your message! Well, Thank God for you and your message! I first started having a problem with the shift to park message, shifter is in park...but computer is telling me to shift to park....and would run the battery down.....so to work around this, until I could tear in to the console....I put a disconnect on the battery and would disconnect it when not in use....this has been a pain, but it has worked.....until the other day, I now have the starting disabled theft problem message....Ive been trying to do this procedure, but when the security light goes off, I try to start on same thing.....my problem is, I can turn the car off with the shift to park message, but I pull the ECM fuse and it puts it in accessory mode....so I try to start it again, and get the security lock...when thru 4 times now....to no avai.....Im just wondering if not being able to cut the car off, messes up the sequence.....frustrating.....anything else I can try that you know of? thank you!

So if it's theft then it won't even turn over? My mom's 98 Grand Am has sat in the yard without the battery because we put it into her newer car. Put a battery back in it after 5 months and it will crank but not start, no sound from fuel pump. Don't see any security light. Think it's the fuel pump.

@Renegade Racing yes I sent flagship 1 my Vin number when I purchased the ECM. When I connect to the ECM with Hp tuners using a bench harness It does show the correct Vin number

@Renegade Racing moved the starter wire a while back and the gas gauge went up and trying to start it made it click would it be any of the starter wires? starter is good i’ve shorted across it and it cranks but don’t start cause of the lock icon thing

@TRILL run a jumper from the battery positive to the starter when that’s done hook up some jump cables to another running car and follow the procedure in the video

I have 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500 my security light stays on even with I take key out of the ignition can't get it to shut off. Interior and headlights do turn on only hazards lights work. Only thing I can think of is a door actuator system thinks door is still locked. I need some help get pissed.

I replaced my Yukons battery and then when I turn the car on the alarm doesn’t stop ringing and it feels like it’s not driving to its full potential.

Good afternoon if you're happening to be close by on your computer I'm stranded here at a Love's gas station about 200 miles from Jacksonville Florida on i-95 I have a 92 allante and says theft deterrent disabled. I have another key as well and it would not start. I engaged the theft system and it worked and I put the key in the door and turned and it went off but it still will not let my car start. The readout States wait 7 minutes every time I do it still does not start. Any suggestions

@Renegade Racing thanks for responding yeah I took it back behind the love gas station and they had a big truck shop that charged my battery up I put the battery back in still did the same thing now interior lights don't come on when I open the door neither does the anti-theft light not sure what it is still stranded. Took out all the fuses in the dash area placed them back in when I did that dash component light didn't come on then I took them all out again and then the dash lights came on I think the car has had it going to try to sell it as is right here at gas station

Get inside your car close all the doors, press the unlock button on your key fob then open your driver side door. While the driver side door is open press the lock button down on the door itself then close the door now start your ride 💯🙂

Try sticking your key in the door lock the car and unlock the car and hold unlock position for like 30 seconds

Also try to stick the key in the door lock and unlock about four times the last time on unlock leave the key turned in the door to the unlock position and hold for about 30 seconds. You may have to repeat a few times

I have an easier way for you! While sitting in the car push the unlock button on the key fob, open the door then push the lock button down on the door then close the door... Now start the car 💯🙂

@Dennis X I had my 1997 I kept using starting fluid sprayed it direct to the carburetor or on that hose on the air intake...I kept doing doing every time I went for a ride...eventually I didn’t need it bcuz it would start not sure how many times I did it 10-30 times but not sure about the 2002’s s10
