Steve has 13 grand-children - Wendy, Branden, Carl Jr, Chavonne, Steven Jr. Marquis, Kennedy, Erik Jr.,Erika, Regan, Reianna, Timothy, Quinton; 2 great-grandsons - Branden Jr and Jaion, and his "Little Buddy" Christian Joel Deleon Harper.
At the age of 9 he was called to Preach The Gospel of Jesus Christ. After running from his calling, in 1979 at the age of 36 Steve had finally accepted the call of God and began his walk at The First New Christian Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles, California under the Pastoral leadership of Rev. Robert W. Batts.
In November 1980 in Castaic, California Steve Founded Boyd & Boyd Ministries For Christ, which is the parent for Faith In Myself Ministries and Salvation Is Free Ministries.
In April 1983 he was Ordained as a Baptist Minister, by a group of his peers and joined the Ray of Light Missionary Baptist Church of Los Angeles, California Pastored by Rev. Searcy M. Jackson, Jr. (who Graduated to Glory on June 3, 2008), where he held the position of Executive Director, until organizing New Testament Missionary Baptist Church in 2009.
In September 2006 Dr. Boyd Founded Boyd & Boyd Ministries Bible Institute (now know as New Testament MBC-SCV Bible Institute), where 8 graduates and been granted the Bachelor of Biblical Studies Degree.
On November 1, 2008 God gave Dr. Boyd the yearning to organize a Missionary Baptist Church in the Santa Clarita Valley of Los Angeles County. God showed him a great need to organizes a church where the Gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ would be Preached and taught. In December 2009 the non-profit status for "NEW TESTAMENT MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH - SANTA CLARITA VALLEY" was put into
action.
Dr. Boyd graduated from John C. Fremont in Los Angeles, California. Received an Associate of Arts Degree in Administration of Justice from Compton Community College, in Compton, California. He received his Master's Degree in Biblical Studies from Master's College in Newhall, California and went on to earn a Doctorate of Theology from Claremont Seminary of Theology, Claremont, California.

Steve loves Horse Back Riding, Camping, Fishing (both Men and lake and ocean), and Jet Skiing.
