She like double cups
I like audi mars and patek's
In my bentley truck
She stopped drinking heavy liquor
Think she had enough
You can't drink away the pain
And then go running back
But you a city girl
Guess you don't know how to act
College got you stressing on the inside
But on the outside you looking like a ten huh
When them parties done who you finna talk to
Your bestfriend is on vacation with her mans huh
When I hit you up you calling me a fan now
You still stressing bout the shit
That we done been through
Said you coming home for the fall huh
Last semester got you
Leaning on the ropes now
Old drama back in town got you laying low
Got ya fam thinking that you on the honor roll
College loans got you in some debt now
So you hitting me for money I done spent
You went from partying
To chilling home with slow songs
Go on vacation
Then you post the flicks a month late
Trynna make these people think you on the road huh
Feeling bad but to them you feeling great
Told me hit you later
Hit a shawty out in a-town
Might just go to Houstatlantavegas
Like how that sound
I got shawties trynna
Sneak me in they dorm room
Telling me about they man at home
Said he old news
Girl we grown now
Why you holding on to shit
From back in high school
Heard you uber everywhere except for my spot
You like to spill tea
I like to clean it up
You like zodiacs
I like getting loose
Girl we been apart so long I got a different you
She like double cups
I like audimars and patek's
In my bentley truck
She stopped drinking heavy liquor
Think she had enough
You can't drink away the pain
And then go running back
But you a city girl
Guess you don't know how to act
She like double cups
I like audimars and patek's
In my bentley truck
She stopped drinking heavy liquor
Think she had enough
You can't drink away the pain
And then go running back
But you a city girl
Guess you don't know
Don't know how to act

Overall Meaning

The song "Fever" by E. Cooley & J Davenport tells the story of a young woman who is trying to navigate the challenges of college life, while dealing with the pain of past relationships. The woman is depicted as a party-goer who likes to drink, but has recently stopped drinking heavily, suggesting that she has realized that alcohol cannot solve her problems. The lyrics suggest that the young woman is struggling with issues related to her social life, her romantic relationships, her finances, and her academic obligations.

The song's title, "Fever," is a metaphorical representation of the young woman's state of mind. The term "fever" is often used to describe intense emotions or passions, and in this case, it seems to refer to the woman's need to escape reality through partying and drinking. However, the lyrics also suggest that the woman is starting to mature and move on from this stage of her life. She has realized that she needs to focus on her studies and her future, rather than getting caught up in the drama of her past.

Overall, the lyrics of "Fever" explore the complex emotions and challenges that young people face as they transition into adulthood. The song's message is one of hope, as it suggests that even though this period of life can be difficult, it is possible to grow, learn, and move on from past mistakes.

It was always good talking with Mr. Cooley. rest well with the ancestors 👑

@MikeBlitzMag

Little Willie John, Peggy Lee and the McCoys all tried their hand at this track, and each made their mark with it quite well. But as Dobie Gray once observed, "Other guys imitate us, but the original's still the greatest". And ironically, it's not even Professor Cooley's best record. That honor goes to his 1956 signature single, Priscilla.

And Elvis, Beyonce', And the queen of pop madonna

@devillehall6171

Little Willie John did the 'original' first version and its still light years ahead of all the others including this by the guy that co-wrote it. This is from 1961 recorded because Otis Blackwell the other cowriter asked Cooley to do his version for "We wrote em, we sing em ." Eddie Cooley never considered himself a singer but he was a good writer and he could rock !
