MaveRick embarked on their music journey in March 2006 with members hailing from various disbanded bands such as Grind (グラインド), HATED, and KeiL. They debuted with their first live performance at Nagoya ell.FITS ALL on March 7, 2006, expanding their activities to different regions of Japan. The band released their first single "The light of Destruction and The darkness is Behind" on April 22, 2006, gaining recognition through the inclusion of their songs on omnibuses. In November 2006, they released their first full album, "[a counter feit heart and my true intentions MOSQUITO]." Subsequent releases included the maxi-single "SILENCE DEATH" on July 18, 2007, and the single "あの青は限り無く" (Ano Ao wa Kagirinaku) on September 29, 2007.
On June 8, 2008, MaveRick announced their disbandment but reformed as EAT YOU ALIVE. Kurei adopted the stage name Hiro, and Mukuro became Ryohei. Under their new name, the band released their first single, "JENNIFER / 花水木" (Hanamizuki), on June 18, 2008. EAT YOU ALIVE continued touring in Nagoya and Osaka, exploring a musical direction that departed from conventional visual kei style. Their subsequent singles, including "ADULT CHILDREN OF ALCOHOLICS" and "ATROCITY AND BLUE" in August 2009, showcased a fusion of nu metal influences with rap vocals.
The band released the single "Coke in a vein" in early 2010, followed by "Missing you / 暁" in May. Prior to the release of "Missing you / 暁," Hiro authored a novel titled "暁 (Akatsuki)," which was gradually shared on the band's official site. In August, EAT YOU ALIVE released the maxi-single "REVIVE," featuring re-recorded songs from their MaveRick era. Their second one-man show in September marked the arrival of Shouya as the new guitarist.
EAT YOU ALIVE's seventh single, "THE REASON," was released in December 2010. A one-man show followed in May 2011 at the Nagoya ell. FITS ALL stage. However, on July 21, 2013, the band announced their disbandment after nearly eight years of activity, providing minimal details regarding their decision. Unfortunately, their first and last concert in London had to be canceled due to low ticket sales, as announced on November 16, 2013.
To commemorate their career, EAT YOU ALIVE released a memorial DVD titled "EAT YOU ALIVE FINAL ONEMAN 'shi wo sasou shidarezakura muku no hinagiku bibou no bara kyomu no pansy shi no keshi omoide no wasurenagusa" on March 1, 2014. The DVD included footage from their final one-man live at Nagoya E.L.L. on December 30, 2013, as well as off-shots from their European tour and PVs for "Clock wise," "Lily," and "Sick." The band's last live was held in their hometown Nagoya at Nagoya E.L.L. on December 30, 2013.
EAT YOU ALIVE's music and image evolved over time, departing from conventional visual kei style and incorporating elements of nu metal with rap vocals. Their unique sound and visual presentation set them apart in the visual kei scene.

In EAT YOU ALIVE's song "The Reason," the lyrics depict the struggle of letting go of a past relationship that has caused pain and heartache. The opening lines, "Kazaritateru kotoba nante, Ore wa mochi awasete nai sa," express the difficulty the singer has in finding the right words to say to convey their emotions. They feel lost in the situation and unsure of how to proceed. The next lines, "Bad kie kakeru, Ushinatta, Kako wo wasuresarou to shite," translate to "Bad thoughts come to mind, Lost, Trying to forget the past." The singer is overwhelmed with negative emotions and is trying to forget the past and move on.
The chorus, "I just say goodbye, Monokuro no hibi yo, Sekai wa mujou ni kachi ga nai, Kimi no naka ni, Mada nokotteru nara, Supiido Agero, Sore ga "riyuu" da," expresses a sense of finality and acceptance of the situation. The singer is saying goodbye to the past, represented by the monotony and lack of color in their life. They acknowledge that the world is indifferent to their struggles and that they need to move on. The line "Supiido agero" tells the listener to raise their speed, to move forward with determination. The singer recognizes that this pain and hardship they have experienced is the reason for their growth and development.
The final lines of the song, "Semete mouichido mouichido dake kimiyo waratte kure" mean "At least, just once, please smile for me again." This shows that despite the pain and heartache, the singer still wishes for some sort of resolution or closure with their past relationship.
