Moon
Eagleson Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Something in your eyes I see
Soon begins bewitching me
It's that old devil moon
That you stole from the skies
It's that old devil moon in your eyes
You and you glance make this romance
Stars in the night
Blazing their light
Can't hold a candle
To your razzle-dazzle
You've got me flyin' high and wide
On a magic carpet ride
Full of butterflies inside
Wanna cry, wanna croon
Wanna laugh like a loon
It's that old devil moon in your eyes
Just when I think
I'm free as a dove
Old devil moon
Deep in your eyes
Blinds me with love
The lyrics of Eaglesonβs song βMoonβ can be interpreted as someone who is deeply in love and is mesmerized by the person they are with. When they look into their eyes, they see something that is captivating and bewitching, and they are pulled in by this feeling. The old devil moon that the person they are with stole from the skies is a metaphor for the irresistible force that they possess. The imagery of stars in the night blazing their light, but unable to hold a candle to the other personβs razzle-dazzle, reinforces the idea that the other personβs charm and magnetism cannot be compared to anything else.
The lyrics describe the emotions of someone who is enamoured with their partner, and the feeling is so intense that it makes them feel as if they are flying high and wide on a magic carpet ride. The butterflies inside and the desire to cry, croon, and laugh like a loon all convey the sense of exuberance and joy that love can bring. But just when they think they are free from the spell that the other person has cast, the old devil moon in their eyes blinds them with love once again.
Overall, the song is a beautiful love ballad that captures the all-encompassing feeling of being in love, and how it can make someone feel like they are under a spell that cannot be broken.

Moon river, wider than a mile
I'm crossing you in style some day
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker
Wherever you're goin', I'm goin' your way
Two drifters, off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see
We're after the same rainbow's end, waitin' 'round the bend
My huckleberry friend, moon river, and me.

The harp made this even more magical, just need a version of you sitting on a fire escape with the harp playing over it to get that Breakfast at Tiffany vibe

Yes. This is beautiful. Always loved this song.
@SunflowerSpotlight
Thatβd actually not be that hard with a lap harp. Iβve got one and could totally make it onto a fire escape, lol. π But Iβm in a small town in the south. The chords are more complicated with smaller harps because you donβt have pedals or switches; you have to pre-tune for each song, and even then sometimes youβve got to fake it. A concert harp like that... Iβd go bananas for the chance to play one of those. Itβs also really cool to see a guy playing it! Itβs so stereotyped that I really love male harpists.

So much yes.

3:12 He sings loud enough for the harp mic to pick up his echos and it just makes this mesmerising reverb effect.. magical..
