You're my girl, I've told them so
You should have seen how their faces fell
When they were wishing me well
They called me a lucky guy
And I couldn't hide a feeling of pride
You're my girl, I've chosen you
And if this heart of mine had a voice
You'd hear it second my choice
You're what I've waited for and you're my girl
If this heart of mine had a voice
You'd hear it second my choice
You're what I've waited for and you're my girl
The lyrics of Eddie Fisher's song "A Girl, a Girl" can be seen as a declaration of love and commitment to a girl who the singer sees as his soulmate. In the first stanza, the singer states that he has told other boys that this particular girl is "his girl." The following lines express his pride and satisfaction that he is the one who has won her heart, indicating that the girl is the object of his affection, and he is feeling lucky to have her.
The second stanza is the singer's direct address to the girl. He tells her that he has chosen her to be his partner for life, and he would like to make a lifelong commitment to her. An interesting phrase stands out in this part of the song -"If this heart of mine had a voice, you'd hear it second my choice." It shows that the singer wants to make it clear that the girl is his unequivocal choice, and he will remain steadfast in his commitment to her alone. The final line, "You're what I've waited for and you're my girl," tells us that the singer regards this girl as special and unique and that she is his ideal choice for love and companionship.
Overall, the song is a beautiful expression of love and highlights the importance of finding the right person to spend one's life with. The lyrics emphasize the importance of honesty, commitment, and true feelings in a relationship.

In 1954 Fisher could have had any girl he wanted. And he probably did. His lifestyle could put today's rappers to shame.
