Outside
Eddie and his Strawberries Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Queen sophia wanders
In between these castle walls
Says I can't go on living
My shadow chases me in
And through these castle halls
And still it's not forgiving
Sure, I've got some jewels
And some pretty clothes
But there's no one here to see them
And if you were here
I'd find you in your lover's throes
Singin' about your freedom

step into the outside
Where the rain is falling down
Step into the outside
Take a breath before you drown
Step into the outside
When you need a little lift
Rub the sleep
From your bloodshot eyes
And step into the outside

sophia's got a notebook
Of promises tucked away
All the things she's gonna
Do and when
But now it's underneath her mattress
Underneath her skin

sophia says if I don't get out soon
I'll lose my mind
Take me anywhere surprise me
But leave my suitors
And the secret service men behind
Or else the crowds will recognize me
And then I'll have to smile and wave
Blow kisses to their children
So quick give me a wig
And a pair of shades
And I'll be runnin' for my freedom

chorus

Overall Meaning

In these lyrics, Eddie and his Strawberries tell the story of Queen Sophia, who is stuck inside the confines of her castle walls. She can feel her sanity slipping away as her shadow seems to haunt her every move. Despite her wealth and possessions, she feels invisible and yearns for the freedom to be herself. She longs to escape the watchful eyes of her suitors and security detail and experience life outside of the castle. Eddie urges her to take a step outside, where the rain is falling down, and breathe in the fresh air. He encourages her to rub the sleep from her bloodshot eyes and embrace the freedom that awaits her.

The second verse reveals that Sophia has a notebook filled with promises of things she wants to do and accomplish. However, her dreams are currently out of reach, buried deep beneath her mattress and her skin. Sophia knows that if she doesn't escape soon, she will lose her mind. Eddie tells her to take a chance, explore the unknown, and leave everything behind, including her suitors and the secret service men who watch over her. He warns her that if she is recognized by the crowds, she will be forced to perform for them, blowing kisses to their children and pretending to be someone she's not. Eddie offers her a wig and sunglasses so she can run for freedom.

Overall, the lyrics deliver a powerful message about breaking free from our self-imposed limitations and embracing the unknown. It encourages us to take a chance on life and venture into the outside, where freedom and adventure await.

The mayor of strawberry's secret is that he's gay. He talks about his family not treating his wife well. But the letter from his sister (when u hogtie & loot the mayor) clearly says at the bottom he never married. He ran off w/ his colleague, another male professor. That man he ran off w/ is the hotel/welcome center clerk. That guy is the only person in strawberry who talks fondly of the mayor. The mayor hangs out there all the time. All the pieces come together around the mayor being gay. Everything else mentioned in this video is an unrelated stab in the dark. Yur welcome.

I know people talk crap about him but when he’s not talking about gta 6 he’s actually good

4:31 the mayor says his family was "very unkind to his wife." But at 7:05, the letter from Belinda says "sometimes I think I should have taken a leaf out of your book and never married." Hmmm. If he never married, he wouldn't have a wife that his family could be unkind to.

Red Milk

he is saying that he wished he never marryed not that he isent married
