It's No
Eddy Howard Lyrics

It would surely be a sin
Take the rain from April showers
It's a sin
Take away the violins, dear
From a lovely symphony
And the music deep within
Is it a sin to love you so
To hold you close
And know you are leaving
Though you take away my heart, dear
Still the beating there within
I'll keep loving you forever
For it's no sin
Is it a sin to love you so
To hold you close
And know you are leaving
Though you take away my heart, dear
Still the beating there within
I'll keep loving you forever
For it's no sin
The lyrics of Eddy Howard's "It's No Sin" are a reflection of the depth of his love for someone he knows is leaving him. He uses various metaphors to express the magnitude of his feelings. To him, taking away the breath of flowers or the rain from April showers would be considered a sin, suggesting that his love for this person is just as natural and intrinsic as these natural phenomena. In the second verse, he talks about how taking away the violins from a symphony would cause the music to lose its essence, suggesting that the person he loves is an integral part of his life and without them, his life would be incomplete.
The chorus repeats the lines "Is it a sin to love you so, to hold you close, and know you are leaving", emphasizing the conflict between his immense love for this person and his knowledge that they are leaving him. The final verse is a resolution to continue loving this person despite their departure. He acknowledges that even though they have taken his heart with them, the love he has within his heart will continue to beat for this person forever.
Overall, the lyrics of "It's No Sin" are a poignant expression of a love that is strong and unwavering despite the inevitability of heartbreak.

Dear Prof: Further to your comments, I recall being shocked, with the Fifties in full force, that Eddy's recording was more popular than the very nouveau Four Aces. I probably shouldn't have been, because I liked this one better, and I had no roots in the Thirties.
Eddy's song certainly contained some of the best aspects of popular music from the two previous decades, but this style, sadly, dropped out of sight within a year.

I was looking for an old song about hot weather that went "it ain't no sin to take off your skin and dance around in your bones". This ain't it. Shucks! 😆
