To be honest, I played it this morning thinking it would annoy my teenages enough to get up for school (the Tijuana Brass Band wasn't enough). Nick Cave wrote a good response to a letter that he got from 10 years old boy who was asking him how would a lot of listening of Bad Seeds at that age affect him.
"Listening to Bad Seeds music at your age is like having a secret knowledge. When I was about your age I had a secret knowledge too. My eldest brother, Tim, used to listen to a lot of very strange and obscure music and he passed this knowledge on to me. Back then I lived in a rural city in Victoria and it seemed to me that nobody my age listened to the music my brother played to me. As far as I could tell they all listened to a whole lot of shit. @@widM_ Funny, my eldest brother used to listen to a lot of strange and obscure music and he passed this knowledge on to me. Back then I lived in a rural city in Britany(france) and it seemed to me that nobody my age listened to the music my brother played to me. One night, I was 10 year old, he played to me "Armenia", from "Zeichnungen des patienten o.t." in his bderoom, in the dark, no light, as a psycho/sensory experience...it was! Did the same earlier with "Trance europe express" from kraftwerk...Later I met a guy who also had this special knowledge, he became my friend and we went on to hit any kind of metal stuff we could find in my father's garage. Good memories. I play drum now...

Those are exactly my own circumstances so I don't have much to add, except this is an example of when dowsing for music (using cover artwork) paid handsome dividends over the gulf of years that separate this cassette from today. Something about getting in on something on the ground floor when you don't know what that something is, you're there because of an intuitive jump in your value system. and it pans out

That's awesome! My only real industrial concert was Pigface around '95-ish with members of Thrill Kill, Psychic TV and can't remember who else. I wasn't totally into industrial at the time. I was just a punk rocker. My GF at the time wanted to go. Insane experience though.

hatred I saw Neubauten in London "Heaven" Club in late 84- early 85?. It was just after the release of Half Man..Halber Mench! Great that the album had German + English lyric sheet! They managed to blow the amps 3 times that night, such was the noise! Fucking fantastic. Lots of other people from bands in attendance. Chris Carter (Throbbing Gristle/Coil) Stephen Humphries..(Marc Almond drummer) Foetus.. That's the ones I spotted! One of the most memorable gigs I ever had the pleasure of being at, along with Nick Cave in 83 with Blixa on guitar and playing half of a Birthday Party set, as they only had 1 album of material. Great memories, which still to this day stand up as unique and loud! Never matched! 💀

It's an upload of the reissue. Letztes Biest (am Himmel) is the last song on the album proper. The rest is extra-material. All the Neubauten reissues (of the first five albums, at least) had a substantial pause between the album-material and the bonus-tracks. I always liked that a lot.

Probably has silence at that portion because all material presented there is included within the 1/2 Mensch album, the following isn't.
I'm guessing that's why.

Always makes me smile hearing this each time. Anybody that knows a lot of the remixes for Depeche Mode around the period will hear the link between the two, most likely coming from both using Hansa, Berlin in '84-'85 AND both working with Gareth Jones. Would love to go to that studio one day!

I thought I heard Trent, too and now that you say that I can absolutely hear Stigmata and pretty hate machine in this ;) It's like having an insiders glimpse of Uncle Al, NIN, and Skinny Puppy getting together for a bit of spot welding in their infancy while learning the ropes from the grandfathers of industrial.
