Go! Go! Go!
Elvis Presley. Scotty & Bill Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
His spirit and his fortune low
Alone he sat, alone he thought
Of happy times he used to know
Hey, dreamer, don't be so upset
Hey, Joseph, you're not beaten yet
Go, go, go, Joseph, you know what they say
Don't give up, Joseph, fight till you drop
We've read the book, and you come out on top
Now into Joseph's prison cell
Were flung two very frightened men
We don't think that we will ever
See the light of day again
Hey, Joseph, help us if you can
We've had dreams that we don't understand
Both men were servants of Pharaoh the King
Both in the doghouse for doing their thing
One was a baker, a cook in his prime
One was a butler, the Jeeves of his time
Tell me of your dreams, my friends
And I will tell you what they show
Though I cannot guarantee
To get it right, I'll have a go
First the butler, trembling, took the floor
Nervously he spoke of what he saw
There I was standing in front of a vine
I picked some grapes
And I crushed them to wine
I gave some to Pharaoh who drank from my cup
I tried to interpret, but I had to give up
You will soon be free, my friend
So do not worry any more
The king will let you out of here
You'll buttle as you did before
Next the baker rose to tell his dream
Hoping it would have a similar theme
There I was standing with baskets of bread
High in the sky I saw birds overhead
Who flew to my baskets and ate every slice
Give me the message, like his would be nice
Sad to say your dream is not
The kind of dream I'd like to get
Pharaoh has it in for you
Your execution date is set
Don't rely on all I say I saw
It's just that I have not been wrong before
Go, go, go, go go, go, go, go
Go, go, go Joseph, you know what they say
Hang on now, Joseph, you'll make it some day
Sha la la, Joseph, you're doing fine
You and your dreamcoat ahead of your time
Go, go, go, Joseph, you know what they say
Hang on now, Joseph, you'll make it some day
Sha la la, Joseph, you're doing fine
You and your dreamcoat ahead of your time
Go, go, go, go go, go, go, go
Go, go, go, go go, go, go, go
Go, go, go, go
Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go
Joseph, you know what they say
Hang on now, Joseph, you'll make it some day
Sha la la, Joseph, you're doing fine
You and your dreamcoat ahead of your time
Go, go, go, go, go, go, go
Joseph, you know what they say
Hang on now, Joseph, you'll make it some day
Sha la la, Joseph, you're doing fine
You and your dreamcoat ahead of your time
Ahead of your time
Ahead of my time
Ahead of your time
Ahead of my time
Ahead of your time
Ahead of my time
Ahead of your time
Ahead of my time
Ahead of your time
Ahead of my time
Ahead of your time
Ahead of my
Time!
The lyrics of "Go! Go! Go!" by Elvis Presley, Scotty, and Bill convey a message of hope, resilience, and the power of dreams. The song tells the story of Joseph, who is facing challenging times and feeling defeated. However, his friends encourage him not to give up and remind him that he can still turn things around.
The first verse describes Joseph's unfortunate situation, with his luck and spirits low. He reminisces about happier times he once knew. But his friends address him as a dreamer and advise him not to be too upset. They assure him that despite his struggles, he has not been beaten yet.
The second verse introduces two imprisoned men, who are servants of Pharaoh the King. They are frightened and believe they will never see the light of day again. They turn to Joseph for help, as they have both had dreams that they don't understand. Joseph listens to their dreams and agrees to interpret them.
The following verses depict the dreams of the butler and the baker. The butler dreams of serving wine to Pharaoh, while the baker dreams of birds eating bread from his baskets. Joseph interprets the dreams, telling the butler that he will soon be free, while delivering the unfortunate news to the baker that he will be executed.
The chorus emphasizes Joseph's resilience and the power of his dreams. It encourages him to keep going, reminding him that he will make it one day. The repetitive "go, go, go" signifies the persistence and determination needed to overcome challenges.
The overall theme of the song is the importance of perseverance in the face of adversity. Joseph's story teaches us not to give up on our dreams, even when circumstances seem dire. It conveys the message that with resilience and belief in oneself, one can overcome obstacles and achieve success, even against all odds.

If Elvis never cut another record after those 5 SUN singles, he'd still be the greatest of all time.

Amen.
@mistermasterson
Those first five singles changed history no one will ever match or outdo them they will never be out of date and all the heavy metal ravers shouting to the devil and all the goofy punk bands whining and moaning about politics will never be able to dredge up the level of raw power that Elvis had on these songs. The best Rock and Roll of all time!
