A Hard Day's Night
Enoch Light Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It's been a hard day's night, and I been working like a dog
It's been a hard day's night, I should be sleeping like a log
But when I get home to you I find the things that you do
Will make me feel alright

You know I work all day to get you money to buy you things
And it's worth it just to hear you say you're going to give me everything
So why on earth should I moan, 'cause when I get you alone
You know I feel OK

When I'm home everything seems to be right
When I'm home feeling you holding me tight, tight

It's been a hard day's night, and I been working like a dog
It's been a hard day's night, I should be sleeping like a log
But when I get home to you I find the things that you do
Will make me feel alright, ow

So why on earth should I moan, 'cause when I get you alone
You know I feel OK

When I'm home everything seems to be right
When I'm home feeling you holding me tight, tight

It's been a hard day's night, and I been working like a dog
It's been a hard day's night, I should be sleeping like a log
But when I get home to you I find the things that you do
Will make me feel alright

You know I feel alright
You know I feel alright

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Enoch Light's A Hard Day's Night express a sense of exhaustion, but also demonstrate the power of love and its ability to rejuvenate the spirit. The singer claims that they have been working like a dog and should be sleeping like a log after such a trying day. However, upon returning home to their partner, they find that love and affection can make everything feel alright. This sentiment is reinforced when the singer reveals that they work all day to get money for their partner, which is worth it just to hear them say they will give the singer everything. The tone of the lyrics suggests that the singer's partner is a source of comfort and refuge, making everything in life more bearable.

The lyrics also suggest that the singer does not want to complain about their hardships, as they know that their partner will make them feel okay. Despite the trials of the day, the singer finds solace in their partner's arms, and everything feels right when they are at home and holding one another tight. This message speaks to the transformative power of love and the way that it can bring meaning to even the most difficult moments of life.

I love instrumental music like this. I'm 37 & so I wasn't even born or very young when this music was in. However, music like this has always grave me. Also discovered, Esquivel, Walter Wanderly, etc this past yr...AWESOME musc.

@ledisquaire

the music you're talking about is often catagorized in the easy listening section of 2nd hand record stores. i'm a huge fan/ collector but i'm very particular about the danceability. it has to be superbly funky/ groovy for it to make it into my racks. enoch lights discotheque lps are a good place to start. top of the heap is claus ogerman's watusi trumpets lp. top notch/ insanely groovy 60s go-go music! i recommend fans of this sound search hyp records. also a great source is 60s soundtracks!
