Waiting All Day
Eric's Trip Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
waiting all morning, in bed, thinking of you
Will you be the same person
who left before the fall?
I didn't like you then
but when you were gone
when will you get your thought I by myself
can't take the pressures waiting all day here on the couch
And will you be the same person
who left before the fall
I didn't love you then
but when you were gone
I forgot
The lyrics of Eric's Trip's song "Waiting all Day" can be interpreted in various ways. The song seems to be about waiting for someone to come back, someone who has gone away and will now return. The lyrics are infused with conflicting emotions, with the singer vacillating between love and hate, longing and indifference. The lines "when you were gone, I forgot" suggest that the singer has moved on from the person and is trying to forget, but the opening lines "I'm waiting for you, waiting all morning, in bed, thinking of you" indicate that the person is still important to them.
The line "will you be the same person who left before the fall" suggests that the singer is unsure if the person who is returning will be the same as they were before they left, perhaps suggesting a change or transformation in the person due to their time away. The line "I didn't like you then" could be interpreted as a confession of past dislike, but the following line "but when you were gone, I forgot" suggests that the singer has perhaps come to regret that dislike and now misses the person, despite having moved on.
Overall, the song is a poignant depiction of the complexities of human emotions, where past memories and present realities mingle, and feelings can fray and tangle over time.
