The band was formed by members of "By Blood and Iron," a Birmingham local band, and the ex-guitarist of "Broadcast the Nightmare," Alan Rigdon. They entered the Studio in late 2009 for their self titled EP. With Guitarists Jesse Cash and Alan Rigdon constantly writing material, they entered the studio again in July of 2010 for their second release, "Andromeda". Andromeda was released in December of 2010.
Soon after the release of "Andromeda," the band was back at 456 Recordings with Brian Hood in Nashville, TN to record their debut album. On November 29th, 2011, Erra released their debut album "Impulse."
In 2012, the band parted ways with their bassist Adam Hicks, who left to finish college. Sean Price joined Erra as the new bassist as they began recording another studio album in 2013. Erra's sophomore album, "Augment" was released on October 29th, 2013.
In 2014, Alan Rigdon, one of the guitarists, and Garrison Lee, the unclean vocalist, both left the band under separate circumstances. Ian Eubanks, a friend of the band, filled the vocalist position; he had filled in for Garrison on tour in the past.
In late May of 2014, the band began teasing new material they had been writing. Just over 5 months later, on November 10th, 2014, Erra released a 5 song EP through Sumerian Records titled "Moments of Clarity." Shortly after the release of the EP, Erra began writing a new album to follow up their 2013 release "Augment."
In 2016 vocalist J.T Cavey (ex-Texas In July) joined the band to replace Ian Eubanks' position. Cavey and the band entered the studio and wrote and released their third studio album Drift. The album reached #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart. The band toured on the Sumerian 10-year tour, along with Born of Osiris, Veil of Maya, After the Burial and Bad Omens.

The only mother we have left
She is the web in the willow hoop like feathers
We just hang in the air
Open arms to a mother's gift
Electric sensations pulsating through our ribs
Breathing life into our dreams
While nightmares wear
Hanging beneath the nightmare
We fall apart
Hoping you'll call our names
Sweet voice we'll follow
In trying to preserve you
We fall apart, we fall apart
Restore youth
Ghost of the willow trees
The oak, the pines, the bowing mountain peaks
Bring forth the solace of your breeze
Open arms to a mother's gift
Electric sensations pulsating through our ribs
Breathing life into our dreams
The weight of man is crushing me
The weight of man is crushing me
Bring forth the solace of your breeze
From looming pines through ocean seas
Oh, mother,
I am breaking down
Oh, mother,
I call to you
Ghost of the willows,
The weight of man is crushing me
I am falling apart broken into someone less than who I'm meant to be
I am lost,
I am lost
Bring forth the solace of your breeze
From looming pines through ocean seas
Bring life into thee stagnant feet
Restore the man that I'm meant to be
Hanging beneath the nightmare
We fall apart
Hoping you'll call our names
Sweet voice we'll follow
In trying to preserve you
We fall apart, we fall apart
Restore youth
Hanging beneath the nightmare
We fall apart
Hoping you'll call our names
Sweet voice we'll follow
In trying to preserve you
We fall apart, we fall apart
Restore youth
The lyrics of Erra's song "Dreamcatcher" describe a connection to nature and the spiritual world as a means of finding solace from the weight of the human experience. The first stanza describes how the spirits of the wilderness nurture and protect the singer as they hang in the air, offering a sense of freedom and release from the burdens of the world. The second stanza expands on this idea, calling out specifically to the ghost of the willow trees and the mountain peaks, asking for their solace and support in the face of the weight of humanity. The repeated chorus emphasizes the singer's hopes for preservation and restoration, both for themselves and for the natural world that sustains them.
This song is both a tribute to the power of nature and a plea for its protection, particularly in the face of humanity's destructive impact on the environment. The lyrics emphasize the importance of connection and respect for the wilderness in order to find peace and solace from the struggle of modern life.

Haven’t heard this song in probably 5 years. Don’t really listen to metal anymore. But I’m sure glad I stumbled across this one again. Such a badass song!! 🤘
