2) EVERYDAY PEOPLE was an american funk/soul band that made one album in 1972. They covered Kool & The Gang's '"Funky Granny" and "Who's Gonna Take the Weight" Stevie Wonder's "Superwoman" and "I Like What I Like" which was written by the Canadian Everyday People.
3) In October of 1987, Stanford University juniors Larry Shorter and Tony Stovall were inspired by Sly Stone's multi-racial, multi-gendered band, Sly and the Family Stone, whose music emphasized inclusiveness and acceptance. Less interested in crossing racial lines than in demolishing them, Stone found a huge audience, both black and white, for his message of optimism about what America could be. As a tribute to this great musician's dream, Shorter and Stovall formed Everyday People, based on Stone's 1967 hit of the same title, and thus brought together what one journalist calls, one of the only "truly integrated" collegiate a cappella groups in the nation.
With recording awards from the Contemporary A Cappella Society for its 1993 album, Shades of Soul, its 1996 album wail, 3 awards for its 1998 release, 2648 West Grand Blvd, and a phenomenal Best Album of the Year award for 1999's EP JONES, Everyday People has thrilled audiences across the country and internationally as well.
The group's fourth album, 2648 West Grand Blvd., has earned rave reviews from the Recorded A cappella Review Board has won Runner-Up awards in the Best Album, Best Song, and Best Soloist categories in the 1999 Contemporary A cappella Recording Awards.
EP's fifth release, EP JONES, represents a high point in EP musicianship, featuring original lyrics and a more mature sound. Nominated by the Contemporary A cappella Recording Awards in the Mixed Collegiate category for Best Song, Best Album, Best Arranger, and Best Soloist, EP JONES went on to win their first Best Album award as well as Runner-Up Best Song.
Extended Play, the group's latest release seamlessly blends the tight harmonies of 2648 West Grand Blvd. and the soulful solo sounds of EP JONES to achieve an incredible balance of musical texture and emotion.
The group is currently recording and expects to release a yet-to-be-titled album before the end of 2007.
Everyday People is an entirely student-run, non-profit organization: the group funds its projects mainly through paid performances.

'Cause I found a girl who wants more than fun
But this picture tells a different tale
From the inside of an open jail
When you've lost the trust you know there's little more
Can we find a way to make up the score?
This party's heart is growing old
The cool just started blowing cold
'Cause you want me as good as gold
I could never be the teacher's pet
I tried a halo but it wouldn't fit
'Cause when temptation looks me in the face
I look around me, where's my saving grace?
Did you want the angel I could never be?
'Cause I've lost my wings, and I'm walking free
I can be the life and soul
This party's heart is growing old
The cool just started blowing cold
'Cause you want me as good as gold
You take me down different roads
Each one brings me back
You're breaking the lovers code
I swear this love could be your last
(Solo)
You take me down different roads
Each one brings me back
You're breaking our lovers code
I swear this love could be your last
I swear this one could be your last
I can be the life and soul
This party's heart is growing old
The cool just started blowing cold
'Cause you want me as good as gold
I can be the life and soul
This party's heart is growing old
The cool just started blowing cold
'Cause you want me as good as gold
The song, "Good as Gold" by Everyday People, tells the story of a man who is struggling to maintain his relationship with a woman who wants more than just a casual fling. His friends see him as lucky, but the man feels trapped and uncertain about his future. He compares his situation to being inside an open jail, where he has lost the trust of his partner and is unable to find a way to make things right. Despite his flaws and shortcomings, he tries to be a good partner and make the relationship work, but it seems that his efforts are not enough.
The chorus of the song features the man's personal reflection about his life, where he admits that he is getting older and the cool things that once started are now fading away. The woman he loves wants him to be "good as gold," which implies that she wants him to be trustworthy and faithful. He acknowledges that he could never be the angel she wants him to be and that he has lost his wings. He tries to make amends for his mistakes but he knows that he can never be the perfect partner that she deserves.

Is it me or are album covers from the 70s, just as good as the records ? or even better if the records crap ☹️
Lieve De Groef
I 've been thinking exactly the same for some time. Even have the intention of making a comment to other followers : do you people realize this is Art !!! 🎨
And always a smile on the band/musicians face! 😀 Very seldom nowadays 😡....
THE FUNK PUNK
@Lieve De Groef YES, that's what I've said so many times in the last 10 years, the WONDERFUL smiles on black mens faces on 90% of ALL the albums then, what's weird is America was still in , and , or a post ' angry black power ' mode, AND in lots of cities in the 70s, people number ONE priority was CRIME, hence the ' DEATH WISH ' films being so popular , but musically, you wouldn't of thought black Americans were angry by looking at an album covers, they were for me, a massive joy to look at. One reason is there is a CERTAIN KIND OF COOLNESS, MASCULINITY, I only find in black American men, which is unique to them, that ALONE gives me so much pride that there are people to look UP TO, who are so cool, calm & collected, much cooler than all other races on the planet, now, if you couple that pose, gait and coolness, with their MUSIC, there is the final stamp of a people, REMEMBER WHO WERE SLAVES, ect, and show no ANGER, BITTERNESS in their countenance and appearance, not the black MUSICIANS anyway, maybe the other 35 million blacks did, but I've never lived in the 1970s US, so can't obviously say concretely , musically they really were on a different planet, and it showed through those wonderful smiles. MADE EVEN MORE IRONIC, CONSIDERING LARGE SECTIONS OF AMERICAN SOCIETY, NOT JUST WHITE, ITALIAN & IRISH ECT, HAD SO MUCH HATRED TOWARDS THEM !!!! As the 2020 election has AGAIN JUST PROVED, so so sad.

@THE FUNK PUNK Wow, what a comment. You probably had to get a lot off your chest. The fun/surprise fact, I AM A WHITE, EUROPEAN WOMAN, mostly agreeing with you. In Belgium the situation is even worse, in MUSIC LAND lots of appreciation, but in SOCIETY... very few black lawyers, doctors, managers etc... We could learn quite a bit from your lifestyle which is much more laid-back, smiley and less neurotic! In combination with more access to higher society layers, it could be heaven! 😀😇🧡

@Lieve De Groef how do you know I'm not black !!!! And I hadn't given one thought to where you were from , or what color or sex you are , so it's not surprising to me at all, YOUTUBE has contributors of all sexes and races, from all over the world, that's what's so good about it, so its not surprising where your from, or your sex, at all.🤔
THE FUNK PUNK
@Lieve De Groef ok, hope you get better, yea, I love to have a laugh 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I'm 50% black, and 50% Irish, so mixed race, just like Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix and Vincent Company, the ex Man City and Belgian football captain. 👍
