Overall Meaning

The song "Talk" by FACES.CULT is a powerful and aggressive rap track that speaks to the feeling of being tired of people talking behind your back and trying to bring you down. The lyrics begin with a clear message of defiance and anger towards those who engage in "shit talk," and the rapper makes it clear that he won't hesitate to use violence to put a stop to it. The line "Fuck the shit talk, I'ma quick draw" is a possible reference to the American Old West, where a "quick draw" was a skilled gunslinger who could quickly draw a pistol from their holster and fire it accurately.

The lyrics continue with more violent imagery, including the lines "Rip his dick off/Now his hips soft," which implies castration as a punishment for those who engage in "shit talk." The rapper also talks about being "shit on" and not wanting to experience that again, suggesting that the song might be a response to personal experiences of being bullied or harassed. The chorus repeats the message of the verses, with the rapper asserting that he's not afraid to use force to defend himself: "Fuck the shit talk/Imma quick draw/Knock his lips off/Pissed off/Rip his dick off/Now his hips soft."

Overall, "Talk" is a song that speaks to feelings of anger and frustration, with the rapper using violent language to illustrate the intensity of his emotions. At its core, though, the song is a rallying cry for anyone who's ever felt persecuted or belittled by others, urging them to stand up for themselves and not let "shit talk" go unchallenged.

It has been almost 9 years since I walked away from my highly demanding religion. I had a dream about the leader TWO NIGHTS ago. Could not sleep the rest of the night. I think people underestimate the pain and confusion these groups inflict on the mind. I am glad the red flags are being broadcast more lately.

First of all, congrats on this interview, this is huge!!! Second of all, wow there were so many amazing tidbits in here. From Keith telling them to avoid reading bad rhetoric about him for fear of it changing their perception of him, to the conversation on how cult leaders will teach you to gaslight yourself even when they're not there in front of you. People who've never been in a cult truly don't realize that you will make yourself believe anything if you really want to. That's how cults continue today even in the Information Age.

@CultstoConsciousness

Hi Sydney! Thank you so much! I love your favorite parts. 😁❤️

Honestly, it's so similar as well to abusive and/or toxic relationships. I absolutely hate the question "why didn't you get out sooner?" Because I couldn't and he had trained me to gaslight myself to hell and back. I love that we are trying to destigmatize all this. Abuse is not the survivor's fault.

@katbos4995

Yes! Mormon prophet and apostles (leaders) also tell you not to read anything bad about the church. The brainwashing is real, people don’t read bad stuff.

@cim6205

@@delphinewartelle3105 yes! I've heard it said that it's a cult of two.

I felt sad for Nancy too-I think as a therapist she was repentant at the damage she caused. But the sentence was justified. I hope she can recover.

"You can clean up your mess without feeling shitty about yourself."
This is something I'm continually working on!

Glad to find your channel. I’m 64 now, but left the Seventh-Day Adventist Church at age 23. I was born a fifth-generation Adventist in 1959. Both sides of my family were in the church. I spent 13 years in their school system. There were three traumatic life events that opened my eyes and shook me loose, and then I spent the next two decades dog-paddling upstream out in the real world. It was frightening, dangerous, and the most exciting time in my life: I discovered true education, art, theatre, film, music, sex, food, and dancing! In my 40s, I came out of the nonbeliever closet and articulated my atheism. In my 50s, I experienced a spiritual transformation that has nothing to do with man-made religions. Thanks for doing what you’re doing.
