Do You Want To Build a Snowman?
FATAI Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Do you want to build a snowman?
Come on, let's go and play
I never see you anymore
Come out the door
It's like you've gone away
We used to be best buddies
And now we're not
I wish you would tell me why

Do you want to buid a snowman?
It doesn't have to be a snowman
Ok, bye
Do you want to build a snowman?
Or ride our bike around the hall?

I think some company is overdue...
I've started talking to
The pictures on the walls
It gets a little lonely
All these empty rooms
Just watching the hours tick by

Tick, tock, tick, tock, tick, tock
Do you want to buid a snowman?
Doesn't have to be a snowman
Ok, bye
Elsa please, I know you're in there
people are asking where you've been

They say have courage
And I'm trying to
I'm right out here for you
Please let me in
We only have each other
It's just you and me
What are we gonna do?
Do you want to build a snowman?
Do you want to buid a snowman

It doesn't have to be a snowman
Ok, bye.

Overall Meaning

The song "Do You Wanna Build A Snowman?" from the movie Frozen is sung by Anna, the younger sister of Elsa who has been isolated in her room for years because of her powers to create ice and snow. Anna repeatedly asks Elsa to come out of her room and play with her, but Elsa is too afraid to interact with anyone because of the danger her powers posed. The song begins with Anna asking Elsa to come out and build a snowman with her, reminiscent of the times when they were best friends. However, she's disappointed that Elsa isn't as close to her as they used to be.

As the song progresses, it becomes apparent that Anna's loneliness is increasing. She starts talking to the pictures on the walls and feels that the hours are just ticking by. She longs for Elsa's company and wants to know why things have changed between them. Towards the end of the song, Anna pleads with Elsa to come out and interact with her. She assures Elsa that they only have each other and must stick together.
