Atlas
Fanfarlo Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It's all hats off now,
All drum rolls and applause.
By slight of the hand you will turn them into dust.
A face to face you will lead them by the fall

A track fiend and saw dust
You're allowed to stare it out
Ooh ooh ooh ooh, ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh

It's all good luck charms,
All trying to understand.
Indeed inside me (deep inside) will always hope for worst
You say you keep them close by
They're closer than you think.

A track fiend and the saw dust
You're allowed to stare it out
Ooh ooh ooh ooh, ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh

Next spring will bring you back again
You'll sigh and crack a whip for us
And maybe you will be the one
Who'll draw the line in the sand
For us to crawl

It's all at bats now
All painting gorgeous time.
And maybe when the night comes

You'll open up the cage
You'll open up the cage

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Atlas by Fanfarlo seem to be about the performer's role as an entertainer or artist. The first verse describes the performer's ability to captivate and awe their audience, but also their power to manipulate and control them. The line "you will turn them into dust" suggests that the performer can make the audience disappear or fade away, perhaps through their own creativity or by simply outshining them. The reference to "hats off" and "drum rolls" also suggests that this is a grand performance or spectacle.

In the second verse, the lyrics continue to explore the performer's relationship with their audience, using metaphors of magic and illusions. The line "you say you keep them close by, they're closer than you think" suggests that the performer relies on their audience's attention and admiration to fuel their art, but also that there is a closeness or intimacy between the two. However, this closeness is contrasted with the line "indeed inside me will always hope for worst," which suggests that the artist may secretly wish for failure or rejection in order to keep pushing themselves creatively.

The final verse seems to suggest that the performer will return again in the future, perhaps after a period of rest or reflection, and will continue to push boundaries and challenge their audience. The line "maybe you will be the one who'll draw the line in the sand for us to crawl" suggests that the artist may take a stand or set a new standard for their peers or fans to follow. Overall, the lyrics of Atlas explore the complex relationship between artists and their audience, balancing admiration with manipulation and experimentation with tradition.

I know that theres a lot of fans that came close to Fanfarlo thanks to Twilight, but, hey, that's good. I'm one of them. And i'm thankful for that. "Reservoir" is, for me, the best album of the recent years. "Comets", "Luna", "Fire escape"... the whole album it's a masterpiece. They're great musicians, especially Cathy Lucas, i love her voice. Please, come to Argentina.
