The band originally consisted of singer/guitarist Luke James, bassist/keyboardist John Mulligan (simply known as Mulligan) and drummer Dik Davis. In 1979 the band signed to IRS Records and released their first album, Product Perfect. The album failed to chart and mainly received airplay on college radio.
By late 1981, the band had almost completely changed in terms of musical direction, and had now become a part of the New Romantic movement. Original singer Luke James had been replaced by De Harris, and bassist Marlon Recchi joined the band. In April 1982, the band released their most successful album, Fabrique. The album, produced by Zeus B. Held, reached #10 on the UK charts and featured the hit singles Love Shadow and Move On. Two other minor singles, Streetplayer (Mechanik) and Something in Your Picture were also released from the album.
In late 1982, De Harris left the band and was subsequently replaced by singer/guitarist Troy Tate (formerly of The Teardrop Explodes). However, Tate did not last long in the band and was replaced on vocals by guitarist Alan Darby in early 1983. With Darby now as frontman, the band went back into the studio with Zeus B. Held and released their final album, Twilight of Idols, in February 1984. The album spawned three singles, Eye Talk, Dreaming and You in the Night, with only Eye Talk becoming a hit. By the end of 1984, the band had broken up.

Candy cane eyes and tears of red wine and a colourful dress
She was gone by and the day went after and the lights sprung again
The hills that mount trees fill the view with pure green and the sun sat above
I look at you and all I can see is the only thing that I love
And I think you'll agree that all I'll ever need is the thought of your touch
My hand in your hair your head on my chest I can hear your mind thinking
I want you to know that I feel the same don't try to forget
Your lips caught my eyes and they brushed my forehead and out came my smile
Oh summer don't leave me ever again
Oh summer don't leave me ever again
I look at the sky and I wonder why I am so blessed
Candy cane eyes and tears of red wine and a colourful dress
She was gone by and day went after and the lights sprung again
The hills that mount trees fill the view with pure green and the sun sat above
I look at you and all I can see is the only thing that I love
And I think you'll agree that all I'll ever need is the thought of your touch
Oh summer don't leave me ever again
Oh summer don't leave me ever again
Oh summer don't leave me ever again
Oh summer don't leave me ever again
Oh summer don't leave me ever again
Oh summer don't leave me ever again
Oh summer don't leave me ever again
Oh summer don't leave me ever again
Oh summer don't leave me ever again
Oh summer don't leave me ever again
Oh summer don't leave me ever again
Oh summer don't leave me ever again
Oh summer don't leave me ever again
Oh summer don't leave me ever again
Oh summer don't leave me ever
The lyrics to Fashion's song "Don't Touch Me" delve into the emotions that come with being in love and the fear of losing that love. The opening lines of the song express the singer's gratitude for their blessings, which is then followed by a description of a person characterized by their "candy cane eyes," "tears of red wine," and "colorful dress." The singer remarks on the passing of the day before focusing back on their love interest.
As the song continues, it becomes clear that the singer is physically apart from their partner and is eagerly anticipating the moment when they can be reunited. They describe the feeling of being "locked in" their house and the thrill of being set free. The intimate moments shared with their partner are then detailed - the singer paints a picture of their hand in their partner's hair, their partner's head resting on their chest, and the sound of their partner's thoughts.
The central message of the song comes through in the chorus, with pleas to "Summer" to not leave them ever again, and the declaration that the only thing they need is the thought of their partner's touch. The repetition of these lines adds emphasis to their importance, making it clear that the singer's happiness revolves around their partner's love and presence.
Overall, "Don't Touch Me" is a song about the joys and struggles of love, particularly the longing for a loved one's touch and the fear of losing them. Through vivid imagery and heartfelt lyrics, Fashion captures the emotions of being in love and the anxieties that come with it.
