Fat Freddy's Drop Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Well, the more I feel the same.
Each day like the one before,
'Til I don't wanna try no more-ore.
When working, tired and your feet are hurtin',
From runnin' all the time, trippin' out, off your mind.
Too many times to notice, how the lonely soul is.
Tried everything, then tried it again,
Been watching the flame, burn to the end,
Been wasting my bones, been takin' my time,
A bird from the ashes, burning to fly.
Home from the sea, a thief in the night,
Like Mr. Apiata, just doing what's right.
My brothers and me, my sisters and I,
We're waiting to arrive...
When working, tired and your feet are hurtin',
From runnin' all the time, trippin' out, off your mind.
Too many times to notice, how the lonely soul is.
Love is all alive, it's waiting to, arrive.
The lyrics of Fat Freddy's Drop's song "Boondigga" convey a sense of monotony - the more the singer tries to change, the more they feel like they are stuck in the same cycle. The repetition of each day like the one before, and the feeling of not wanting to try anymore, is relatable to many people who feel like they are stuck in a rut. The struggles of working, feeling tired, and having sore feet are also referenced, adding to the sense of stress and exhaustion. However, despite these difficulties, there is a sense of hope and anticipation for what is to come. Love is described as alive and waiting to arrive, and the singer references taking risks (like a bird burning to fly) and doing what's right (like Mr. Apiata) in order to reach their destination.
The song's lyrics can be interpreted as a commentary on the challenges of daily life and the struggle to break free from monotony. However, the hopeful tone of the song reminds us that there is always a chance for change and growth.
