las apariencias no son lo primero
todas tus apuestas van al mismo lugar
solo la conciencia te llevará al destino final

El trago y el dinero no son primero
La conveniencia no es lo que yo quiero
todas tus apuestas van al mismo lugar

These lyrics are from Federico Goes's song "Continental." In these lyrics, the singer is questioning the priorities and values of society, particularly regarding money and appearances. The opening line, "Tu solo piensas que hay en el dinero" (You only think about what there is in money), suggests that the person being addressed is overly preoccupied with wealth and material possessions. However, the singer challenges this perspective by asserting that appearances are not the most important thing in life.
The next line, "las apariencias no son lo primero" (appearances are not the first thing), further emphasizes this sentiment. The singer believes that there is more to life than just superficial appearances and material wealth. They are trying to convey the idea that one's character and conscience should be given more importance than material success.
The repetition of the phrase "todas tus apuestas van al mismo lugar" (all your bets go to the same place) suggests that the person being addressed is constantly making choices that lead to the same outcome. This could imply that they are caught in a cycle of seeking wealth and material gain, but not finding true fulfillment or satisfaction.
In the repeated line, "solo la conciencia te llevará al destino final" (only conscience will lead you to the final destination), the singer highlights the importance of having a clear conscience and acting based on moral values. They suggest that by prioritizing one's conscience and living with integrity, one can achieve a more meaningful and fulfilling life.
The word "Continental" itself serves as a title and refrain throughout the lyrics. It is possible that this word symbolizes an aspiration for a more well-rounded perspective, where material wealth and appearances are not the sole focus, but rather a balance between conscience and personal growth is sought.
