Figure-Ground Lyrics

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Figure-Ground's song "The Mirror" convey a theme of self-reflection and the recognition of one's own likeness in another person. The use of the mirror metaphor throughout the song suggests that the singer sees themselves reflected in their significant other, both physically and emotionally.

The first verse states, "In the mirror, I see myself, resembling you. In the mirror, even my gaze is becoming like you." This implies that the singer not only physically resembles their partner but also begins to adopt their mannerisms and expressions. The use of the mirror symbolizes the deep connection between the two individuals, as they merge and become more alike over time.

In the next verse, the lyrics describe how the singer can understand their partner even by just observing their facial expressions. This suggests a strong emotional bond, where the singer can intuitively feel what their partner feels. Additionally, when the singer dances, their partner also moves, illustrating the synchronicity and harmony between them.

The chorus repeats the idea of seeing oneself resembling the other person in the mirror. The phrase "내 시선까지도 너를 닮아가" (even my gaze is becoming like you) emphasizes the extent to which the singer is influenced by their partner. The lyrics continue to describe how they become increasingly immersed in each other, with the singer seeing their partner's reflection in their own eyes and vice versa.

The final repetition of the chorus emphasizes the concept of oneness between the singer and their partner. By stating "In the mirror, I see myself, resembling you," the lyrics convey that from the beginning, they were already connected and united. They feel this unity when they approach each other and witness their mirrored appearances.

Overall, "The Mirror" explores the idea of deep emotional connection and unity between two individuals. The use of the mirror metaphor effectively conveys the merging of identities and the recognition of oneself in another person.

Couldn't you just put a flash light shining flat on its surface (to maximize light to the other side/minimize light on your sides surface area) and then just put your face up to the mirror with your hands covering around your eyes (like how you hold binoculars). You could see through that way right if it were one way ? The only reason one way mirrors even work is because the one side reflects light, and usually efforts are made to minimize light from the other side by the people who use it. If you were to block out light from your side whilst providing light to the other (like flashlight against the surface pressed flat to it) you should be able to see through it

In fact, one way mirrors work the same way both ways. If there is more light from the other side that your side, you will see it regardless for which way the mirror is positioned.

Regular mirrors are glass with a layer of (usually) aluminum solution evenly distributed. To minimize image distortion from the other side, dark backing is proved to the back side so that all that you see is the reflection

One way mirrors are just that, minus the backing (usually just sandwiched with another layer of glass instead to provide barrier for aluminum solution) and using even less aluminum solution distributed.

In order to see you from the creep room, light has to be able to pass through to the creep room from your side. So long as you see no reflection (ie blocking out light with your hands to your face pressed up to it) you will be able to see the other side as that will be the only thing illuminated through this semi-transparent material, so long as you provide sufficient light TO illuminate that side (flash light pressed up against it).

That for sure should work. I don't believe there's a better way to make them so that you can't do that

Usually mirrors with no gap are just cheap ones, and don’t always mean there’s something behind it. The ones on the more expensive side are the ones with gaps I’m pretty sure
Edit: its liquified tin on the back of a sheet of glass, the reason why theres a gap is because theirs a sheet of glass between the tin and your finger.

If you’re paranoid of the mirror being sus just cover it whenever your asleep, changing or doing the nasty. Instead of the mirror, other places could have those hidden eyes ya know.

Yeah my dad’s friends believe in this superstition. We were at a hotel and the nitrile was facing at the edge of the bed. She said mirrors are gateway for ghost. Good thing it’s a small mirror. Even I wouldn’t sleep with that giant mirror.

@pastelokami

@@aho9071 I just made the realization that my watcher(Not real, what I mean is that I have a feeling of being watched, so I'll just refer that feeling to the "watcher") always appears on the side of my bed that has a mirror(I have a nightstand and above my nightstand is the mirror)

@water4041

yeah even your clock can have a hidden camera
