There's A Brand New World
Five Star Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Wo, ho, oh, oh
Wo, oh, brand new world

Oh, I strike the light
Is it it or me
Every time I turn around
Your shadow's here
Reach for the phone
Your voice appears
It echoes in my mind
And I just can't see

So burn out the coal
And set me free
'Cause every time I fight it off
I just see you and me

Bet you only try to make it hard
(Brand new world)
There's a brand new world
But you don't know how to face it
Looking just to find a better start
To take it
You stand with me
But I don't stand with, I don't stand with you

You turn cool as I say goodbye
The only words that meant a thing
Was just out of fear
I watched you go as I stood right there
I wanted so to give you love
But you just weren't here

So burn out the coal
And set me free
'Cause there's a brand new world out there
For both of us to see

Bet you only try to make it hard
(Brand new world)
There's a brand new world
But you don't know how to face it
Looking just to find a better start
To take it
You stand with me
But I don't stand with, I don't stand with you

Bet you only try to make it hard
(Brand new world)
There's a brand new world
But you don't know how to face it
Looking just to find a better start
To take it
You stand with me
But I don't stand with, I don't stand with you

Oh, come on

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Five Star's song "There's A Brand New World" seem to be about a relationship that has ended and the struggle to move on to a new phase in life. The singer is haunted by memories of their former partner, with their shadow always present and their voice echoing in their mind. Despite trying to break free and move on, the singer keeps seeing themselves and their former partner together, unable to fully let go.

The chorus refers to a "brand new world" that the singer believes is out there for them to explore, but their former partner is unable to face it. They seem stuck in the past and unwilling to move forward, while the singer is ready to embrace the changes that come with a new chapter in life. The singer acknowledges that they once stood together, but now they can no longer do so as they both have different paths to follow.

The lyrics are introspective and reflective, expressing the pain of moving on from a past love but also the hope and excitement that comes with new beginnings. The singer seems to be urging their former partner to join them in discovering this brand new world, but ultimately acknowledges that they must move on alone.

Yes this should have been top 5 in the charts

For me they had a number of hits that should have been top 10 charts easily top 5 even

And still cant believe with so many great songs they never had a number 1 single crazy

They should have had 6 or 7 at least

This one and
Rock my world
Another weekend
With every heartbeat
I give you give

So many
Find the time
Slightest touch
Rain or shine

These did well but these where number ones in my book easily

And plenty others should have been close

I give you give chart position 83 come on makes no sense some

This one chart position 61 crazy

To many superb songs didnt break top 40 mental

Must have been the press etc giving them problems bad mouthing them that caused there some of there followers to go against them from the lies

Cause these tunes should have smashed the charts

I'm still here in 2020. This will never get old for me. Five Star is truly timeless.

Jedi Crush

This would have been a great soundtrack to a blockbuster movie 🍿This is actually one of their best songs.

michaelleacy

This is actually my favourite 5 Star song. I can see why it didn't chart though, the melody is a bit all over the place and was perhaps too rocky for what people expected of 5 Star. But I think it's great

80s Music

The official chart was the top 75 but anything outside 40 was not considered a success and many would not have heard a record in the lower reaches of the chart. This is an excellent track probably their best, I agree. It should have done much better as it is comparable with their other hits in terms of quality. Perhaps it failed because it stepped outside the perception of what a Five Star song sounded like.

Muswell

It was more suited to the American market. They love this sort of rockpop.

Simon O'Brien

it charted in the uk one of my favourites as well

Bob Davis

It's my favorite from the "Rock The World" album. It did reach #61 in the UK.
