One of the best and most beautiful documentaries I have ever seen. Directors of this docuseries are cinematographers and they make each and every frame so pleasing to look at. Must watch for its narrative which explains the problems faced by white cops in a black majority town. The episode where the white cops are judged and questioned by their colleagues for voting for trump will make you cry for sure.

This is the most objective documentary I have seen. You really get the sense that the directors really care about accurately representing every interviewee's true intentions. Pro and anti law enforcement. No manipulative trimming, and the filmmakers do not tell you who to believe

I just binged this show and think it is one of the greatest documentaries I've ever seen. The access the camera crew had is unreal, the shots and story telling are just amazing, you really feel for these people and their community. It's crazy to think a city that was once so prosperous has turned into what it is today, it is truly shocking. Everyone needs to see this and shame needs to be given to government officials who helped create the mess they are in, the last episode is unreal.

I've made it about half way through the season, and it's really awesome. It definitely gives a voice to both sides. I think one of the most telling moments of the show is when in one of the earlier episodes, a bunch of cops are arguing over whether they are going to vote for Hillary or Trump. For sure not an easy show to watch though.

Excellent, well made docuseries.. I actually felt the pain and frustration for the police officers, as well as the good citizens of Flint.. This series should show everyone in the country how much damage, pain, and depression an underfunded or defunded police department can effect a city, either big or small..
I'm from about thirty miles south of Minneapolis, and my city is no stranger to the kinds of poor political decisions being made on our police force..
I don't get it..
You want to cut back on the city budget that's one thing, but to do so, by defunding the very thing that keeps our city safe?
This doesn't make sense..
It has nothing to do with race.. There are tons more law abiding citizens, of all races that need protection, then the small percent, that are doing the crimes, and then having problems with the way police handled them.

As a person who lives in Swartz Creek a town right next to Flint and goes to Mott Community College in Flint, I am very excited to see this. I just hope they show how the city has been changing and how not everyone and everything in Flint is terrible.

You are WAY too unappreciated for everything that you did and continue to do.
It's a real conundrum when the government who pays you to protect these poor people but failed to ensure they had clean drinking water.

This is my hometown.. we made a tough decision about 5yrs ago to move to TN.. my entire family/friends are all still up there🙏💛💙🙏 we made the choice to move in hopes of giving our kids and us a better future!! I used to patrol on mids in a city like this to a lesser extent. This series is spot on how it is to be a beat officer in an understaffed, underpaid, under-supported department with our backs to the wall, where being backed up 20-30 calls at the start of shift was sadly commonplace.

Complete mismanagement of municipal funding. When you are overworked, understaffed and feel like you're underpaid for your efforts, your efforts start to diminish in just about any career. Policing is a stressful career, which is why i never chose it. They are also put in stressful situations and held completely accountable of how those situations are resolved. I can assume if you send one officer to a stressful call because you are short staffed, the odds of them feeling threatened or intimidated increases which I would also assume has a correlation to the amount of people shot by police officers.
I believe many of these circumstances are not trigger happy cops, but fearful cops. Cops that are put into already high pressure situations alone or with an inadequate amount of them to handle the situation without the use of extreme force. I could be wrong, but it seems logical.

Taking a city back from criminals is good. Taking a city back from corrupt politicians whose selfishness CREATES criminals is even better and what we need to do. Catching criminals is the equivalent of putting a band aid on a wound. Catching corrupt politicians and preventing them from taking power is the equivalent of preventing the wound in the first place.

I just started flint town and I must say that I really appreciate how it's made. Very fine docuseries indeed and very real, raw, genuine.
I am Indian, I got to know about the town in Michigan. They had lot issues, including water problem, crimes and what not. What is the current situation in Flint town? I would like to know that too. Is it getting better? Or it has gotten better already??

I'm having a really hard time finding the original score or motion picture soundtrack for Flint Town. The cinematography is stunning and part of the reason why it works so well is because of it's mesmerizing soundtrack, full of eerily tense and electrifying tunes. I made deliveries to Flint for awhile. The store owners on Dort Hwy, always told me not to go off the main roads, even to turn around or you will be mugged. Saw it happen to more than a few people right in broad daylight. With only 98 police officers total, I see why it would take so long for them to respond, if they even were available.

I watched this whole documentary this weekend, super interesting look at a destitute city. The main thing I took away from this and some of the stuff I have seen about Detroit is that there is no way for the American people to declare a city a failure and abandon it. When there is no cash flowing into the city and no products flowing out it eats itself alive.

A few years ago my wife and I watched the first season of True Detective and I said something to the effect of "it's a shame they won't do something like this for Flint."

Moral of the story: Be careful what you wish for.

This trailer is absolutely gorgeous and stirring and evocative... so much so that it makes me kind of uncomfortable. I never binge watch television... but I'm going to binge watch this. I have every confidence that it will be beautiful and breathtaking. My biggest concern is that it is also fair, decent, and good to the people of Flint.

Living In flint, i can tell you that some of the cops are good. The state boys are mainly the problem. But idk. Ill have to watch and see what its about and if they represent what they are showing accurately. Police have a tough job. They have to deal with un cooperative low lives and are given very little information in terms of suspect descriptions ect. They have to approach and investigate anyone that fits a description, and when they are told black male, jeans and a hat there could be literally 30 people in a block fitting that description that are easily triggered by police asking them questions.
If people want their neighbourhoods cleaned up they have to work with police as much as possible, and the reality is they dont.

Since we switched back to Detroit water, all seems well. Many homes have had their service lines replaced (mine was in July). However, we are still using bottled water as I know I will NEVER trust the government again. I don't know if I can bring myself to start using the water again - I cringe when I think about using it to cook and drink.

Brilliant series just shows you just how easy cops here in Britain have it prime ministers come and go but cops don’t lose their jobs because of it it’s a different world across the pond and hats off to them they worried about presidential elections and job cuts and pay cuts but they still giving 100 percent dedication we have it so much easier here in Britain if we get laid off we just go on Our equivalent to welfare aka benefits and get our rent paid for no such luck in the USA also we get free healthcare they don’t

As someone someone who livesin Flint and has grown up in Richfield RD, a very long road that has many different safety zones. I can tell you that I don't think the city will ever return to what it once was. I think the poverty and drug Lord's have won the city. After GM abandoned us we had no other major income source. So I don't only blame elected officials, I also blame GM executives for the destruction of Flint

The Jabrons or how ever it's spelt, also used to own a bar called the "Mikatam" that was constantly shut down for serving minors. They are a big family in Geneseeville (just beyond the north east corner of flint), but kinda the slimy variety. They own everything but everyone knows the kinda people they are (or were?). Hell, they could of cleaned up. But I remember the countless paper articles in the 80's.

GM had to look out for GM's interests, not the city of Flint. They weren't going to stay there forever, and whether they left when they did or later, the ending would be the same. I agree with a previous commenter, the unions definitely partly share the blame, but also the community as a whole. Things weren't perfect when GM bailed, and it was hard for elected officials to get other companies to come to Flint with the community the way it was....not very inviting. People had to choose to bus out of town for work or take from the government and do nothing, neither good options.

Unfortunately this documentary brings to light many of the very problems that haunt this entire country. IMHO this is why Law Enforcement should never act as a military against citizens and should instead partner with them.

**For without rebuilding trust on both sides their jobs become futile**

Police, politicians and citizens alike should ALL be held equally accountable to the same standards.

I have just watched the complete series, and was well impressed. The program was well balanced and both public and police came across well. If anyone holds the responsibility for how this town has plummeted then it must be those in charge, including at the very end withholding funds from the police and fire departments which they REALLY needed. The chief of police who at first seemed a bit "gung ho" turned out to be a decent guy who tried his hardest to bring stability to a place made worse by a scandel in the last council about poisening the water, and then with holding the truth whilst corrupting the analysis of said water. The chief started a system where the public could be "Special police" similar to what were the "Special constables" in the UK. If he had not done so he would still be running a force considerably undermanned, underpaid and basically working under tremendous pressure, in one scene they only had four cars out on patrol for the whole town during various nights. I am niether pro or contra police, but do believe after seeing this series that if the country spent more on the people that liev there, than endless wars, we would all be better off.

This is something that needs to be seen. This is reality folks. They have no drinkable water & people wonder why there is violence in this town. Take away one person's bare necessities & do not return them - THEY WILL SNAP! Not that hard to answer.

If you want another view of what life in Flint used to be (the "good years" when GM was rocking), read "Rivethead" by Ben Hamper. It may give you some clues why GM pulled out.

Really liked this show. I was set back when Trump won Episode 7 and the officers were divided by race on who voted who. Disappointed, i really believed law enforcement had a head on their shoulders.
