Nocturne
Florian Zabach His Violin and Orchestra Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Music's hot and lights are low
But there's something you should know
Before the night is through
'neath a buzzing neon sign
Dressed in style so cool and refined
Stands a man from another time
There in the night that has heard a thousand voices
Whispered a thousand names
Sang out a thousand love songs
He lives his hollywood nocturne
There's a place he'd like to go
Where it's cool and lights are low
But the shadows won't let go
They dance and call his name
As he roams the streets at night
Haunted by this devil sight
There's a man in dark red light
Who's calling out to you
There in the night that has heard a thousand voices
Whispered a thousand names
Sang out a thousand love songs
He lives his hollywood nocturne
His hollywood nocturne
His hollywood nocturne
The lyrics of Florian Zabach's "Nocturne" tell the story of a person who is drawn to a mysterious place where "music's hot and lights are low." The setting is a buzzing neon sign, where a man stands dressed in style and refinement, calling out to the singer. This man is from another time and seems to be living in a different reality than the one the singer is in. The chorus repeats the phrase "there in the night that has heard a thousand voices," evoking the idea that the setting is not just a physical location, but a place where many stories have been lived and told.
The second verse introduces an element of danger, as the singer roams the streets at night, haunted by a devilish sight. The same man from before, now bathed in dark red light, is calling out to the singer once again. The shadows won't let go, and the singer seems to be struggling to resist the call of the night.
The lyrics of "Nocturne" paint a vivid picture of a world that is both seductive and sinister. The portrayal of a man from another time, dressed in refinement, suggests that this world is not only a physical place but also a place where different eras and lifestyles converge. The music and lights create an atmosphere that draws the singer in, a place that seems to be both alluring and dangerous.

Although the performing style sounds a bit obsolete now, the dreamlike sound of his violin is still fascinating. Thanks for the precious and solacing upload!

The vibrato for popular violin was a little faster back then.
You'll hear that in the movie orchestration from the 30's and 40's.
I think it makes us nostalgic because of our connection to old cinema.
Very beautiful album. Thank you again, David!
