Believe Me
Fort Minor Feat. Bobo & Styles Of Beyond Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I guess that this is where we've come to
If you don't want to, then you don't have to believe me
But I, won't be there when you go down
Just so you know now
You're on your own now, believe me
Yo, I don't wanna be the one to blame
You like fun and games, keep playin' 'em
I'm just sayin'
Think back then we was like one and the same
On the right track, but I was on the wrong train
It's like that, now you gotta face the pain
And the devil's got a fresh new place to play
In your brain like a maze you can never escape
The rain, every damn day's the same shade of grey
Mike:
Hey, I used to have a little bit of a plan
Used to, have a concept of where I stand
But that concept slipped right outta my hand
Now, I don't really even know who I am
Yo, what do I have to say? Maybe
I should do what I have to do to break free, and
Whatever happens to you, we'll see
But its not gonna happen with me
I guess that this is where we've come to
If you don't want to, then you don't have to believe me
But I, won't be there when you go down
Just so you know now
You're on your own now, believe me
Mike:
Back then, I thought you were just like me
Somebody who could see all the pain I see
But you proved to me unintentionally
That you would self destruct eventually
Now I'm thinkin' like the mistake that I made doesn't hurt
But it's not gonna work cause its
Really much worse than I thought
I wished you were something you were not
And now this guilt is really all that I've got
Tak:
You turned your back and walk away ashamed
All you got
Is a memory and pain, nothing makes sense
You stare at the ground, and hear my voice inside your head
When no one else is around
What do I have to say
Maybe I should do what I have to do to break free, yeah
Whatever happens to you, we'll see
But it's not gonna happen to me
I guess that this is where we've come to
If you don't want to, then you don't have to believe me
But I, won't be there when you go down
Just so you know now
You're on your own now, believe me
(Yeah. Lets go)
I'm guess that this is where we've come to
(Yeah)
If you don't want to, then you don't have to believe me
But I, won't be there when you go down
(Yeah)
Just so you know now
You're on your own now, believe me
I'm doing what I have to do
You're on your own now believe me
Whatever happens to you
You're on your own now believe me
What do I have to say?
You're on your own now believe me
Its not gonna happen to me
You're on your own now believe me
The song “Believe Me” by Fort Minor featuring Bobo and Styles of Beyond is about feeling like someone you thought was on the same track as you has gone off course and choosing to distance yourself from them. The song is characterized by two verses, the first one by Ryu and the second by Mike. In Ryu's verse, he speaks of the consequences of not staying on the right track and the devil that can get into one’s head. Ryu insists that Mike is on his own and he won't be there to help him out. In Mike's verse, he speaks about losing his vision and asking what he has to do to break free. He also talks about how he believed that the other person was like him but later found that he was not what he thought he was. Mike believes that he is on his own and won't be there for the other person.
The chorus "I guess that this is where we've come to, if you don't want to, then you don't have to believe me. But I won't be there when you go down. Just so you know now, you're on your own now, believe me." emphasizes the idea of being on one’s own and that one must believe in themselves to overcome any challenges they may face. The song is filled with emotion and portrays the consequences of poor decision making and self-destruction.

I guess that this is where we've come to
We find ourselves in this situation now
If you don't want to, then you don't have to believe me
You have the choice to believe me or not
But I, won't be there when you go down
I won't be there to help you when you fall
Just so you know now
I want to make it clear to you
You're on your own now, believe me
You're alone and need to believe me
Yo, I don't wanna be the one to blame
I don't want to take responsibility
You like fun and games, keep playin' 'em
You enjoy playing games
I'm just sayin'
I'm just expressing myself
Think back then we was like one and the same
We were similar before
On the right track, but I was on the wrong train
We were heading in the right direction but I lost my way
It's like that, now you gotta face the pain
That's how it is now, you have to handle the suffering
And the devil's got a fresh new place to play
The devil has a new opportunity to cause trouble
In your brain like a maze you can never escape
Your thoughts are like an inescapable maze
The rain, every damn day's the same shade of grey
Every day feels dull and monotonous
Hey, I used to have a little bit of a plan
I had some idea of what I wanted
Used to have a concept of where I stand
I used to have a clear understanding of my position
But that concept slipped right outta my hand
I lost that understanding
Now, I don't really even know who I am
I don't have a clear sense of who I am anymore
Yo, what do I have to say? Maybe
I don't know what I can say
I should do what I have to do to break free, and
I need to do what's necessary to become free
Whatever happens to you, we'll see
We'll have to wait and see what happens to you
But its not gonna happen with me
But I won't let it happen to me
Back then, I thought you were just like me
Before, I believed we were similar
Somebody who could see all the pain I see
Someone who could understand my suffering
But you proved to me unintentionally
But you ended up showing me the opposite
That you would self destruct eventually
You eventually destroyed yourself
Now I'm thinkin' like the mistake that I made doesn't hurt
I'm telling myself that my mistake doesn't hurt
But it's not gonna work cause its
But that won't be effective because
Really much worse than I thought
The situation is actually much worse than I realized
I wished you were something you were not
I wished you were different
And now this guilt is really all that I've got
Now, all I have is this guilt
You turned your back and walk away ashamed
You left with shame
All you got
You only have
Is a memory and pain, nothing makes sense
You only have memories and pain, nothing else makes sense
You stare at the ground, and hear my voice inside your head
You feel my presence in your thoughts
When no one else is around
When you're alone
What do I have to say
What can I say?
Maybe I should do what I have to do to break free, yeah
Perhaps I should do what I need to do to become free
Whatever happens to you, we'll see
We'll have to wait and see what happens to you
But it's not gonna happen to me
But I won't let it happen to me
I'm doing what I have to do
I'm doing what I need to do
You're on your own now believe me
You're alone and need to believe me
Whatever happens to you
Whatever happens to you
You're on your own now believe me
You're alone and need to believe me
What do I have to say?
What can I say?
You're on your own now believe me
You're alone and need to believe me
Its not gonna happen to me
But I won't let it happen to me
You're on your own now believe me
You're alone and need to believe me

That's just... Not true... Fort Minor is the name of the group, which was started by Mike Shinoda. Mike Shinoda is also one of the founders of Linkin Park, and is the co-vocalist. He isn't underrated in the slightest.
@williamkenny6383
Destiny Mythbusters Hes far from under rated. You must not have been around when he controlled the entire decade.
