Original members Monty Colvin (Bass, vocals), Alan Doss (Drums, vocals), Ben Huggins (Lead vocals, guitar), and Dane Sonnier (Guitar, vocals) released their self-titled album in 1991, with the follow-up "Space In Your Face" in 1993. Sonnier then decided to leave the group. The band returned in 1996 with album number three entitled "Machine Fish" on Metal Blade Records, along with new guitarist Wally Farkas.
It was in 1997 that they released "The Horse That Bud Bought", which was a minor departure for the band. They used a similar songwriting style but lightened the tone. The music contained a more rock feel, with less metal leanings. The music for the next two albums, "At The End Of The Day" and "Let It Go" also were also similar in this regard.
After 2000's "Let It Go" the Cowboys decided to disband. The former members of the band continued to be active in the music scene, until the original lineup reunited in 2017 for the album "Long Way Back to the Moon".
It's Not Over
Galactic Cowboys Lyrics

Tried to get back up but sorrow pushed me to the ground.
But I say
It's not over.
Fear would rise and crystallize and force me to my knees.
Lack of faith and hell awaits would be my destiny.
But I say
It's not over.
One more bout to go
In the last round of this fight.
And I'm up against the ropes
And it looks like there's no hope.
But I say
It's not over.
The lyrics of Galactic Cowboys's song "It's Not Over" convey a powerful message of resilience and perseverance in the face of adversity. The opening lines describe a difficult moment in the singer's life, one where they have been knocked down by an unexpected blow. The second line adds dimension to this struggle, painting a picture of the weight of sorrow that is holding the singer back. Despite these challenges, however, the singer finds a voice within themselves that declares, "It's not over." This phrase becomes the refrain, repeated throughout the song and serving as a rallying cry for the singer to keep fighting.
As the lyrics continue, the various enemies that the singer must fight are portrayed. Fear, lack of faith, and the threat of hell are all forces that could keep the singer down, but again and again they defy these obstacles, proclaiming that it's not over. The final stanza introduces a boxing metaphor, painting a picture of the singer up against the ropes in the final round of a fight. From this desperate position, it appears that there is no hope. Yet, the singer's internal voice once again speaks out, refusing to give up and urging them to keep going.
Overall, "It's Not Over" is a powerful anthem of resilience that can speak to anyone facing tough times. Through the lyrics' vivid imagery and unrelenting refrain, the song encourages us to keep pushing forward, even when it feels like we have nothing left.
