El Pescador
Garzon y Collazos Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
vente conmigo, yo te convido,
a la choza que tengo
cerca del río, junto a la playa.
Allí cantan las ondas lindas canciones
que yo acompaño con mi dulzaina india
que solo dice tu dulce nombre.
No te me vayas que yo te pongo
candongas de luceros
que yo recojo con mi atarraya;
No te me escapas, yo te aprisiono
con las notas salvajes
de mis guabinas y mis bambucos.
Morenita de mi alma
morena, morena, bendita seas. (bis)
No te me vayas que yo te pongo
candongas de luceros
que yo recojo con mi atarraya.
Morenita de mi alma
vente conmigo...
The lyrics to Garzon y Colazos's song "El Pescador" are about a man who is inviting his love, who he affectionately calls "Morenita de mi alma" or "My dark-skinned love," to join him at his house by the river and the beach. He tells her that there, the beautiful waves sing songs that he accompanies on his dulzaina india (a type of flute), and that the only thing the flute is capable of saying is her sweet name. He pleads with her not to leave him and promises to give her gifts of star-shaped objects that he collects with his fishing net. The man promises to keep her close with the wild notes of his traditional Colombian music like guabinas and bambucos. The song ends with the man repeating his invitation for her to come with him.

Cantaba yo esta canción en las serenatas a las chicas hace 50 años. Nunca supe hasta hoy su título y menos que ha sido un éxito de ese maravilloso dúo Garzón y Collazos 👏👏👏👏👏
