Give It to You
Geoff Tate & Queensryche Lyrics

Don't you love the way she sing?
Love the way she sing to me
You getting by the dues and the red too
You've been living large in my heart
I get... I get back to you
What you gonna do when it all falls apart?
I give it to you but you take it too far
Yea, you hmm
I wanna give it to you
But you'd probably break my heart
When I'm down you look right through me
Don't be surprised when lightning strikes you dead
Yesterday I tried to tell you again
I will spill in your ear, how do you like me so far?
Oh, how do you like me so far?
So far
These strangers strangers liftin high
There's nothing left, no fire burning here
No no no fire burning here
I give it to you but you take it too far
Nothing burning here
I wanna give it to you
But you'd probably break my heart
When I'm down you look right through me
Don't be surprised when lightning strikes
You're dead, you're dead
Remember yesterday when I whispered in your ear
And I said - how do you like me so far?
How do you like me so far? So far
How do you like me so far? So far
How do you like me so far? So far
So...
Don't be surprised when lightning strikes
Don't be surprised when lightning strikes
Don't be surprised when lightning strikes
Don't be surprised when lightning strikes
You look right through me
You're dead, you're dead
Remember yesterday when I whispered in your ear
Don't be surprised when lightning strikes you dead
You're dead, you're dead
Remember yesterday when I whispered in your ear
And I said - how do you like me so far?
How do you like me so far? So far
How do you like me so far? So far
How do you like me so far?
The lyrics of Geoff Tate & Queensryche's song "Give It To You" explore themes of love, vulnerability, and the potential for heartbreak in a relationship.
In the first verse, the lyrics describe a woman who craves attention and sings in a way that captivates the singer. The singer acknowledges being drawn to this woman's singing, indicating a strong attraction or connection. However, there is also a sense of caution or hesitation as the singer wonders if this woman will take things too far, potentially leading to heartbreak.
The second verse shifts focus to the singer's feelings of being taken for granted or overlooked. They express a sense of disappointment or frustration, stating that when they are feeling down, the other person fails to see or acknowledge their emotions. The lyrics imply that this lack of understanding or empathy could have serious consequences, symbolized by the warning of lightning striking.
The chorus reveals the singer's desire to give themselves fully to the other person, but with hesitation due to fear of potential heartbreak. They acknowledge the possibility that their heart may be broken if they choose to open up and give everything to the relationship.
The final repeated lines in the song emphasize the theme of potential consequences for the other person's actions. The singer warns that they won't be surprised if lightning strikes, metaphorically suggesting that the other person may face the consequences of their behavior. This serves as a reminder to the other person of the singer's attempts to communicate their thoughts and feelings, asking them to reflect on their actions and consider the impact they have had on the relationship.
Overall, "Give It To You" explores the complexities and uncertainties of a relationship, addressing themes of vulnerability, caution, and the potential for heartbreak. It reflects on the struggles and challenges that can arise when two people try to navigate love and emotional connection.

Agreed. Promised Land was a great album, and even though Hear is much-maligned I have come to enjoy it a great deal. spOOL is actually one of my favorite songs in the entire QR catalog.

This song smacks a bit of Alice Cooper's The Last Temptation album with some Yngwie Malmsteen influence on the guitar solo. Sounds good. I like the groove. It's pretty laid back.

Both incarnations of Queensryche have their merits and drawbacks. The more I listen to each album, I can't decide on a "winner." At first, FU was superior (I have the Original Mix which I prefer to this version.) However, after listening to the eponymous album, I've warmed up to it. Both bands have the usual pros and cons of their individual members (I don't like Michael Wilton!) In all, I'm just trying to be thankful that we got 2 QR albums in the same year and that I like them both.

I kind of jumped over this one when it came out, like it now....I think we get conditioned to think all songs will sound a certain way. ....in rotation now..

There are some really fine pieces of music on the album, but some of the vocal lines aren't really thought out that well. They seem kinda rushed. Overall the album is much better than I expected
