yeah i did too, and so i did some research and ik that you're not supposed to believe everything you see or hear on the internet but here's a theory someone said that I think is fitting considering the weird situation of whether she wanted to leave or was kicked out.

"When Jessica said she was “kicked out” of the group, I didn’t believe that either. When you’re hurt or when things go to you unexpectedly, you have this tendency to exaggerate word or feelings or at least the people reading those words tend to exaggerate them. Anyway, the point was Jessica maybe exaggerating it. And yes, I heard that she already wanted to leave the group ever since early 2014 because she wanted to become a fashion designer and she has been scouting schools in America back then. It will be sad but she “wanted her life back” (I believe that’s what she said). She also wanted to get married. She was engaged then (she had a picture at the Incheon airport with a Tiffany & Co. ring). The members said that they were okay with it and that they supported her but they didn’t expect it to be sooner as they assumed that it would still be next year (2015). Then at some point (I heard) she wanted to stay with SNSD if it would be okay with the members.
This is what I think people don’t get. The problem is not Jessica departing from SNSD but her “attitude” that came with it. You can see that SNSD is supporting each other in their solo careers even when they are “miles apart” (I mean Tiffany is back in LA). Sooyoung flew to LA to be Tiffany’s special guest in her concert and they flew back together to support Sooyoung for the premier of her movie. Six members were in the event (I assumed Yoona and Sunny were nit able to attend the event but sure they were very supportive of Sooyoung). Seohyun would always tell Tiffany that she misses her and Tiffany would do the same. Even when they are not complete in the picture, Taeyeon tagged all of them in a photo (this was a recent one and take note that 3 members have already left SM by that time). Seohyun repeatedly told reporters to stop saying “former SNSD Seohyun”. She even said this in a show where she guested. “I did not leave SNSD” was what she said. Tiffany, in her Miyoung’s diary part, mentioned SNSD as her “sisters”. These are just few of the many more moments that will prove that their bond was never fake and that SNSD was not bound by just a company. Now what am I trying to say here? I’m sure they supported Jessica too in achieving her dream outside SNSD (and I think they are still) but what they disliked is that she showed no more interest in the group as if it was not a priority anymore. I get that you want to grow and achieve something for your own but life is not always as free as you think as it should always be. You can do it later, why not? This (SNSD) is the priority, and the members themselves have gave their all for it, why can’t you? Besides she chose to renew her contract. And when asked to leave, she even made it appear like she was kicked out and even said that GG is her priority? She initially said she wanted to leave then suddenly she wanted to stay in the group? If I were her group mate, I would think that this member has no longer interest in our activities and that this member is just forcing herself/himself to be with the group for the sake of being with the group and for popularity. I also want my groupmates to be dedicated to it. I’m not saying she was not dedicated but at some point she lost it already and it would make me furious that this group mate would just force herself to be dedicated. When you want to leave you just want to leave? That’s so bad and painful to see such a group mate. You should have chosen to not renew your contract instead."

I really wish people would stop blaming SM. because SM and Jessica were on the same page when it came to her taking a year off to go to college in New York. They even made the preparations and for everything in line so that she could go and miss one comeback. Why would SM give her approval TWO TIMES and let her resign her contract and prepare sending her off to school just to be surprised when Jessica came to them saying she was being removed from the group. SM and Jessica both said they were shocked at Jessica’s removal from the group. Like I have no problem with SNSD and I still supported everyone after everything happened but let’s be real SM would t waste time and money to prepare a comeback and for her to leave for school on top of the money they put out for her resigning her contract. If SM really wanted her gone they wouldn’t have let her sign again once her contract expired. They wouldn’t have take the time to let her film the “catch me if you can” music video either I really feel like this time SM isn’t at fault. Because none of the girls talk to Jessica and they didn’t talk to her even when she was still under SM for two years after she was kick out of the group.

i feel like that's one of those things where only SNSD members would know, cuz they've been captured being both close and friendly, and distant and unhappy at different periods so who knows what's true --- and who knows what cameras really capture and whether it's real
I do think that they definitely had a good level of respect for each other throughout their careers since both are very talented, and i found Taeyeon's attitude after Sica left to be very respectful of her --- like she took care to do Sica's parts well and let Sica's voice shine through when their concerts chose to use original recordings

They may not have been the closest (and honestly any group can have drama, i think the breaking point was when Sica's life began to transition out of SNSD, like she was setting up to leave and not being able to emotionally commit and give her all anymore --- and for that time period, being in Soshi was an all or nothing thing) but they definitely were committed to working together as a unit when Sica was devoted to Soshi

Here i am a Sone since 2020 tearing up. I know i wasn't a fan (or into kpop in general) when ykw happened, but still my heart aches cuz well I LOVE Sooyeon, i do know how hard this girls have worked and all the years they spent together cannot be forgotten. I'm also guilty of crying while watching ITNW ballad version at the Tokyo Dome.
