BORN TO BE A LADY
Lyrics

Jump to: Line by Line Meaning ↴

Maybe I know, you know
Born to be a lady

The hope is love love love love
The hope is love
Love love love is all

Promise I'm here, you hear?
Born to be part of the world

The hope is love

The hope is love love love oh oh
The hope is love love love oh oh

The hope is love love love oh oh
The hope is love love love oh oh
The hope is love, love love love oh oh
The hope is love love love oh oh
The hope is love

Love love love
The hope is love love love
Oh you're a lady

This song. This precious f*cking song. I listened to it for the first time 11 years ago. Things weren't bad. I was a teenager. It was my favorite song in the album because it had such beautiful lyrics, but I didn't understand them well and didn't know how hard things would be in the future. Just 4 years after that, I became an adult and things went downhill. I realized the world was much tougher than I thought. Since then, I was diagnosed with BPD, changed my major twice, got distant from my friends and family, went through a major breakup and several suicide attempts. Things looked very dark, with no chance whatsoever to improve. Even though I went to several therapists, there was still something I wasn't quite understanding, and I felt stuck. This song though, kept me going for some time. It gave me hope, hope that things would eventually get better. I thought I was too naive for thinking this way and for some time I forgot about the song. About three weeks ago, I had a major episode. I survived somehow, but since then, things have gotten better. In fact, they got so much better that I refused to believe at first. I hadn't felt this way since the time I first heard this song. And then I remembered about it, and remembered how it kept me going because of how supporting lyrics were. I decided to listen to it once again, even though I knew I would most likely cry. Saying that I cried would an utter underestimation, it was the f*cking flood myth. Suddenly, ALL of the lyrics finally made sense. The moment I was waiting for, in which I could finally fully understand and feel the lyrics, had arrived. If you're reading this comment, if you're listening to this song and you feel like it doesn't make sense to you because things haven't gotten better in years, I promise you they will. Even though you might not believe it right now, you already have the power to overcome all of your problems, no matter how hard. If you're still alive, reading this, you still have a chance. And if you can't do it anymore, because you feel the pain is too strong and you can't stand it anymore, I beg you to hold on. I might be moved by emotion right now while making this comment, but I really want this to be my contribution to mental wellness: I will make a system out of what I did to feel better that you, whoever you are, will be able to apply, and I won't stop until that happens and it's standard practice. This is my promise to humanity. In the future, I want myself and everyone to comeback to this comment and see that I really did what I promised. I know I will have relapses. I know I will face many many challenges. I know there will be instances in which I won't want to continue anymore. But I will come back to this comment and remember the promise I made. It doesn't matter if it takes a year or 50, my approach will someday help and support you until pain is not a constant anymore, just like this song did with me.

My name is Ives Zegarra, a broke 24-year-old Peruvian citizen. It's the night of Thursday, March 22, 2022. This is me and this is the start. Outside of my social networks, my name is only in this comment, but it will be someday in the cover of a book.

Feel free to make a promise as a response to this comment as I'm doing right now. If you need immediate help, don't hesitate to contact me. All my socials are @ivesaaron. I can't promise you will improve with what the methods I apply, but I won't stop until that is the case.

Thank you for reading until the very end.

@thomas34stang

I don't care who wrote it or bought it, I like music because it sounds good, so I like who perfected it!!! That be SNSD!

@marvelismylove7657

Thomas Stang Demi Lovato wrote it first

@kingtaetae982

hejka to ja loll... dont you know that this song released even before demi mistake released. Mistake (unbroken album) released on 20th sept 2011 meanwhile this song released (girls generation album) released on 1ST JUNE 2011. I hope you check the facts first before claim that they plagarized it.

@imaginativegirl126

marvel is my love Demi did NOT write this. Stop spewing garbage without doing your research. Also, SNSD sang this first. Look it up before making false statements.

@mistypark9753

2020 I miss Soshi so much. I've been a sone since 2007 and I've only seen them once during a joint concert. I hope I'd get a chance to attend a reunion concert someday. Everyone stay safe.
