It all began in 2002 when Joel Little (guitarist, lead vocals) and Jaden Parkes (drummer, backing vocals) were in high school together and decided to form a band. In need of a bassist an advert was placed, Paul Taite (bassist, backing vocals) was the only person to reply. Paul got the position and Goodnight Nurse was born.
They have released five popular singles: "Loner", "Taking Over", "Going Away", "Our Song" and the new single "My Only". All made it in the Top 20 on debut.
Goodnight Nurse's debut album "Always And Never" was due to be released on November 28th 2005 through Festive Music Records, but sadly the company was bought by Warner Music and the release date was delayed. However, after fans waited patiently for the album to come out it was finally released on the 23rd January 2006 and debuted at number 5 on the New Zealand album charts.
Goodnight Nurse have also added two new members and got rid of their former bassist, Paul Taite and now have Rowan on bass and Sam on guitar and backup vocals
Goodnight Nurse have come a long way since the days of playing in a small Auckland garage.

Give me your word
Play your part
Keep me on your side
Make you mark
Never get hurt
Spend your time
Shopping in your night
Your own heart just burning their bridge
You've ripped it down just like it didn't ever exist
If I fall in the deep end
Would you fish me out or let me drown?
Would you let me drown?
Would you let me drown?
Now you liar (you liar)
Would you let me drown?
Would you hold my head down?
You liar (you liar)
Oh I'm fighting for air,
Where are you now?
Would you let me drown?
Would you let me drown? (whoa oh)
Would you let me drown?
Would you hold me head down?
You liar
Your eyes like
Like your words cheat
I've seen you
Steal with a smile
Cut your ties
In a heartbeat
Left behind
A trail of denial
Your own heart just burning their bridge
You've ripped it down just like it didn't ever exist
If I fall in the deep end
Would you fish me out or let me drown?
Would you let me drown?
Would you let me drown?
Now you liar (you liar)
Would you let me drown?
Would you hold my head down?
You liar (you liar)
Oh I'm fighting for air,
Where are you now?
Would you let me drown?
Would you let me drown? (whoa oh)
Would you let me drown?
Would you hold me head down?
You liar
Would you let me drown?
Would you let me drown?
Now you liar (you liar)
Would you let me drown?
Would you hold my head down?
You liar (you liar)
Oh I'm fighting for air,
Where are you now?
Would you let me drown?
Would you let me drown?
Now you liar (you liar)
Would you let me drown?
Would you hold my head down?
You liar (you liar)
Oh I'm fighting for air,
Where are you now?
Would you let me drown?
Would you hold me head down?
Would you let me drown?
Would you hold me head down?
You liar
The song "Drown" by Goodnight Nurse talks about trust and betrayal in relationships. The lyrics depict the singer's frustration towards a person who has cheated on them while pretending to be faithful. The singer is asking whether the said person would help them out if they were ever in trouble or let them drown, which symbolizes abandoning them in the relationship. The lyrics also talk about the liar's deceptive nature, which is compared to cheating and stealing, indicating that the person cannot be trusted.
The lines "Your own heart just burning their bridge, You've ripped it down just like it didn't ever exist" highlight the fact that the liar has already destroyed the trust and faith that the singer had put in them. The lines "Oh, I'm fighting for air, where are you now?" emphasize the singer's feeling of being helpless and alone in this situation.
In summary, the song "Drown" conveys a message of betrayal and distrust in relationships, which can be emotionally harmful to individuals involved. The lyrics highlight the need for honesty and transparency in relationships to build trust and lead to healthy partnerships.
