1. Gratitude is a rock band from San Francisco, California. They were formed in 2003 by former onelinedrawing and Far alum Jonah Matranga and guitarist Mark Weinberg (originally of the band Crumb). Other members included guitarist Jeremy Tappero and bassist Bob Lindsey. Drummer David Jarnstrom joined the band before the release of their self-titled debut album (session musicians fulfilled the drum role during the recording of the album). Atlantic Records released Gratitude on March 8, 2005. The tracks Drive Away and This Is The Part, were released as singles and received significant radio play both in the US and the UK. Gratitude's first tour for the album was a North American tour supporting Jimmy Eat World (whom the band has often been compared to), and they were also on the bill for the 2005 Warped Tour.
The band faced many difficulties after their album's release - the commercial response was somewhat poor, and Weinberg left the band in June for personal reasons, thus forcing Gratitude to continue touring as a four-piece. Many show cancellations throughout the second half of 2005 and rumours of the band being dropped by Atlantic put the future of the band at stake. Eventually Gratitude released a statement on November 25 claiming that they had in fact decided to split after playing one final show at the Ascot Room in Minneapolis two days earlier.
The members of Gratitude have now gone onto to various things, with frontman Jonah Matranga continuing with his solo work and the recently-reformed band Far. Members, Jeremy Tappero & David Jarnstrom have returned to their other band, Minneapolis rockers, Attention:.
2. Gratitude is also the name of a up and coming Hardcore/Progressive band from Kingston-Upon-Hull in the UK.

Begin Again
Gratitude Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
When you want it so bad
That you hold too tight
And you kill it so dead
It's been done before
It'll be done again
Like the tides at shore
Like the fire in the wind
So long
Every time now
So long
All will see
All will breathe
Oh ooh oh
All begin again
And it hurts
Oh ooh oh
So really understand
And the waiting day
There is no one waiting
It's so long ago
That we've all been making
And every time I turn my head
It's so wrong
All will see
All will breathe
Oh ooh oh
All begin again
And it hurts
Oh ooh oh
So really understand
So long
So long
So long
Like the tides at shore
Like the fire in the wind
All will breathe
All will see
Oh ooh oh
All begin again
And it hurts
Oh ooh oh
So really understand
So, so, so long
So long
All will breathe
All will see
The lyrics to Gratitude's song "Begin Again" touch on the theme of letting go of control and allowing life to flow naturally. The song talks about the desire to hold onto something so tightly that it ultimately leads to its destruction. The repetition of "so long" throughout the song could be interpreted as a goodbye to that need for control and a farewell to the past. The chorus emphasizes the idea of starting anew and letting go of the pain that comes with change.
The lyrics also speak to the idea of waiting for something that may never happen. The line "there is no one waiting" suggests that sometimes we create expectations in our minds that are not based in reality. The use of the phrase "it's so long ago that we've all been making" could be interpreted as a realization that we have been waiting for far too long and need to let go.
Overall, the lyrics encourage the listener to trust in the natural ebb and flow of life, to be open to change, and to begin again without fear.
