Summer Nights
Grease Cast/Grease Lyrics

Summer loving had me a blast
Summer loving happened so fast
I met a girl crazy for me
Met a boy cute as can be
Summer days drifting away to oh oh the summer nights

Tell me more, tell me more
Did you get very far
Tell me more, tell me more
Like does he have a car

She swam by me she got a cramp
He ran by me got my suit damp
I saved her life she nearly drowned
He showed off splashing around
Summer sun somethings begun but oh oh the summer nights

Tell me more, tell me more
Was it love at first sight?
Tell me more, tell me more
Did she put up a fight?

Took her bowling in the arcade
We went strolling drank lemonade
We made out under the dock
We stayed out till 10 o'clock
Summer fling don't mean a thing but oh oh the summer nights.

Tell me more, tell me more
But you don't gotta brag
Tell me more, tell me more
Cause he sounds like a drag

He got friendly holding my hand
She got friendly down in the sand
He was sweet just turned eighteen
Well she was good you know what I mean
Summer heat boy and girl meet but oh oh the summer nights.

Tell me more, tell me more
How much dough did he spend?
Tell me more, tell me more
Could she get me a friend?

It turned colder that's where it ends
So I told her we'd still be friends
Then we made our true love vow
Wonder what she's doing now

Summer dreams ripped at the seams but oh those summer nights

Overall Meaning

"Summer Nights" is a hit song from the movie "Grease" released in 1978. The song serves as a duet between the two main characters, Sandy (played by Olivia Newton-John) and Danny (played by John Travolta). The song describes their summer romance and the fond memories they have of their fling. The song's verses follow an alternating pattern where Sandy and Danny recall their experiences with each other during the summer months. The lyrics described all the fun times they had together both in intimate and social settings. The chorus follows the same pattern of two phrases, "Tell me more, tell me more" followed by a question that they ask about each other's summer experiences.

The song captures the essence of summer romance and nostalgia, and it takes the listener on a trip down memory lane of summer love. The lyrics evoke an image of youthful fun and innocence that most people can relate to. The song's simplicity and catchy melody made it an instant hit, and it remains a classic today.

Watching this after Olivia passed away, she seems like such a lovely person and amazing performer❤️

@elliegoldie6140

In 70s she was every young guys dream.she was beautiful inside and out.wonderful.xx

@sortiz171

Watching this after she has passed as well and appreciating that when they recorded this she was older and John Travolta clearly seemed to have lost his range or maybe pretended to be singing back in the 70s but she still had hers so even though John Travolta is trying trying his hardest to keep up and failing she brings it all the way up to a gorgeous ending

The song is timeless. These guys are real performers. They still sound good together.

@joseph5549

Yup.

@GlobalAirlineEnthusiast

It’s timeless as Glee used it in a 2012 setting also set near bleachers with guys weathering leather coats.

Melhor musical de todos os tempos na minha opinião
