A stripped down re-recording from 2006 was leaked on June 8 2018, and the original synth-based version from 2000 was leaked on September 7 2019. The live version contains a chorus that was never recorded in the studio, hence the word "absurd" was sampled and repeated throughout.
The song was initially released by solo artist Aien on January 2 2019, on the album 10 Years of Democracy. The Guns N' Roses version was renamed 'ABSUЯD' and finally released as their 1st new song in 13 years on August 6 2021. It is the 2006 version with Slash and Duff McKagan recording parts by Rol 'Bumblefoot' Thal and Tommy Stinson, respectively. Bryan "Brain" Mantia,the drummer at the time of writing and recording, remains on the track, as does killswitch guitar from Buckethead in the intro. All of The Pitman's contributions were removed from the final version and He does not recieve a writing credit.
