Hi
Hannah DiAmond Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Sometimes it feels like, your simply looking right through me
Do you think that's just the way it is, I'll never know
Baby, I wish that we could just meet at a party,
I think we could have great chemistry, if you notice me
I can imagine, you looking deep into my eyes
I know that your on the other side, and now I'm dreaming
Tell me you know me, And that you miss me already
Baby, are you with me, is it real? I don't know

[Chorus]
I don't want to be alone in my bedroom,
Writing messages you won't read
I don't want to be alone in my bedroom,
On the internet, waiting to say, Hi

So, I see you looking right at me,
Do I look like someone that you know, I'll never know
Feels like I know you, but all I have is your picture,
But I think that you look pretty good, you know you do
Feels like I miss you, But is it really the real you?
You say "Your as real as it gets", What do you mean?
Tell me a secret, or something only that you know,
I just need to know a little more, about you

[Chorus]
I don't want to be alone in my bedroom,
Writing messages you won't read
I don't want to be alone in my bedroom,
On the internet, waiting to say, Hi

[Bridge]
Wishing, watching, waiting, for you
Wishing, watching, waiting, Hi
I don't want to be alone in my bedroom,

[Chorus]
I don't want to be alone in my bedroom,
Writing messages you won't read
I don't want to be alone in my bedroom,
On the internet, wasting time

I don't want to be alone in my bedroom,
Writing messages you won't read
I don't want to be alone in my bedroom,
On the internet, waiting to say

"Hi! Oh my god, it's so good to see you!"

Overall Meaning

In Hannah DiAmond's song "Hi", the lyrics speak to the experience of longing for someone who may not even know you exist. The first verse sets up this feeling of invisibility, as though the person singing is simply being looked right through. This leads to a wishful thought of finally meeting at a party, where chemistry could spark if only the other person would notice. In this scenario, the singer can imagine the other person looking deep into their eyes, but it's all just a dream because there's no way to know if the other person even knows who the singer is. The chorus then emphasizes the loneliness and frustration of being stuck in a bedroom, sending messages that may never be read in the hope of a response.

The second verse continues the theme of uncertainty by wondering if the other person even recognizes the singer from their picture. Even though it feels like the singer knows the other person intimately already, they're still left wondering if it's the real deal. The line "Tell me a secret, or something only that you know" speaks to the desire for a deeper connection, something more meaningful than just a surface-level exchange. The bridge repeats the same wishful message of "wishing, watching, waiting" for the other person, before finally breaking through with the triumphant "Hi!" at the end.

Overall, the song captures the feeling of yearning and frustration that often comes with modern dating and social media. It's all too easy to get lost in the online world, hoping for a connection or acknowledgement from someone who may not even be aware of your existence.

I used to think the lyrics were dumb, but they're actually the most relatable thing this day and age.

BUCK A. ROO

This song really cuts deep-- especially when you're in an online/long distance relationship.

Willy Junior

The older I've grown since this first came out, its takes a whole new meaning. That small note of sadness in the background of her lyrics, is now painfully front, and center. Honestly a perfect song for our generation.

Ook I think your looking a bit to deep into this.

I personally find her voice very annoying and the energy she is giving me is so strange.

Vink 420

I completely agree! Hearing this song now is a totally different experience at 25.
