Tighten Up
Harto Falión Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
I don't think I'm high enough
but I can't blame the drugs
I know my problem, I don't try enough
I really need to tighten up
Feel like the world is on my shoulders man i really need to ligten up
I face a L like when I take a L I light it
Everyday I step in hell im feeling like I'm uninvited
It's like a monkey on my back and that shyt gripping me the tightest
Now I'm finna step out in them Foot Soldiers
Treat it like a lesson, bych you better take note of it
We did all this shyt up off the ease with no budget
I know my worth so you better know there ain't no budging
Fuck it
I ain't do this shyt for nothing
I dont got it off the dirt o you don't wanna see me bugging
We don't even gotta talk could make a milli off of hummin
uhmm uhmm
uhhmm uhhmmmm
damn,
I don't think I'm high enough
but I can't blame the drugs
I know my problem, I don't try enough
I really need to tighten up
Feel like the world is on my shoulders man i really need to ligten up
I face a L like when I take a L I light it
Everyday I step in hell im feeling like I'm uninvited
It's a battle in my mind and I don't even try to fight it
It's like a monkey on my back and that shyt gripping me the tightest
In these lyrics by Harto Falión, the artist seems to be expressing feelings of inadequacy and a sense of being overwhelmed by the challenges they face. The repeated lines "I don't think I'm high enough, but I can't blame the drugs" suggest a search for temporary relief from their struggles, possibly through substance use. However, the acknowledgement that the real issue lies within themselves - "I know my problem, I don't try enough" - reveals a deeper self-awareness and desire for personal growth.
The artist reflects on the weight of their responsibilities, metaphorically likening it to the world resting on their shoulders. This burden leads to a feeling of needing to "tighten up" and lighten the load, indicating a desire to improve and overcome obstacles. The reference to facing losses and challenges, such as taking a "L" (loss) and lighting up a cigarette, suggests a coping mechanism for dealing with difficulties, even if it may not be the healthiest or most effective approach.
The following verses delve into the artist's determination to succeed and make a name for themselves, using their struggles as motivation for progress. The mention of "Foot Soldiers" could represent a commitment to perseverance and hard work, treating life as a learning experience and emphasizing the importance of taking note of lessons learned. Despite facing challenges with limited resources or support ("off the ease with no budget"), the artist asserts their worth and refusal to be swayed or compromised in their goals.
The chorus is repeated, reinforcing the themes of self-doubt, resilience, and the internal battles the artist faces. The metaphor of a "monkey on my back" gripping them tightly conveys a sense of being trapped by their struggles and inner demons. The artist admits feeling like an outsider in their own mind and environment, struggling with mental conflicts that they may feel powerless to confront. Overall, these lyrics delve into personal struggles, the need for self-improvement, and the battle to overcome obstacles in pursuit of success and fulfillment.
