Read Full Bio ↴Heavy Pettin' is a heavy metal band formed in Glasgow, Scotland in 1981.
History:
Formed in 1981 from the ashes of the Glasgow band "Weeper," a band formed in 1975, by drummer Gary Moat, guitarist Gordon Bonnar and bassist Brian Waugh, Heavy Pettin' debuted at a support concert for the band Cuban Heels at the Virgin Megastore of Glasgow. The name was inspired by the UFO record No Heavy Petting of 1976. The first demo of the band was released in 1981, and was composed of three tracks: "Love Times Love," "Speed Kills," and "Hell Is Beautiful." These interested the small label Neat Records (label of NWOBHM bands like Venom, Raven, Jaguar and Tygers of Pan Tang) with which they signed a short-term contract and with which they will publish the first single Roll The Dice. Other labels were interested in the Glasgow band, but finally the quintet will not let a contract with the major label Polydor Records escape. Even before releasing a full-length, Heavy Pettin' participated in the Reading Festival in July 1983 with Black Sabbath, Marillion, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Suzi Quatro, Anvil, Magnum, Mama's Boys and Lee Aaron.
The debut album Lettin' Loose, was released in October 1983 and produced nothing less than the Queen Brian May guitarist. It was later revealed that it was the first time May produced an album for another band. Following the Scots in 1984 will support bands like Kiss and Ozzy Osbourne on their British tours. Heavy Pettin' came back in 1985 with the Rock Ain't Dead record. They then participated in the Metal Hammer Fest in Loreley, Germany alongside well-known bands like Nazareth, Venom, Metallica, Wishbone Ash, Savage Grace, Running Wild, Pretty Maids and Warlock. They returned to the scene three years later to support the Magnums. The band's decline began when in 1987 they participated in the "Eurovision Song Contest 1987" with the "Romeo" track. The nomination failed, Polydor discharged the band. The Pettins however had already recorded the material of the third album with the major. The Big Bang album was released only later for FM Revolver in 1989, just after the band broke up in 1987.
The following year Steve Hayman became a candidate to take part in the super-project Dirty White Boy with guitarist Earl Slick, however the former Giuffria singer David Glen Eisley will eventually be chosen.
After several individual projects, Hayman reassembled the old formation in 1998 by publishing the Demos '98 demo collection the following year. The group returned to full activity, and in 2000 they gave birth to the live album Heart Attack Live.
The group published two more collections Pettology (2006) and Prodigal Songs (2007) continuing the activity.

Never wanted truly to believe
But I felt your heart so strong
And you said it's hard luck
Wanting love and never to receive
Where did our love go wrong
Blind is something that I used to be
In time, time will heal the tears that start
Help to mend my broken heart
Lying beside you
Can't feel your body close to me
Why do I feel so wrong
Cause you hurt me bad, girl
Never thought that this could happen to me
Why did you lead me on
Love, love is lost where you and me
Blind is something that I used to be
In time, time will heal the tears that start
Help to mend my broken heart
Love, love is lost where you and me
Blind is something that I used to be
In time, time will heal the tears that start
Help to mend my broken heart
Love, love is lost where you and me
Blind is something that I used to be
In time, time will heal the tears that start
Heavy Pettin's song "Broken Heart" is a lament about lost love and a heart that is shattered into pieces. The song's lyrics capture the pain of a broken heart and the struggles that come with it. The singer's doubts and insecurities are evident when they say, "When you said I love you, never wanted truly to believe." Despite this reluctance, the singer could feel their lover's heart beating strongly with devotion.
However, the relationship breaks apart, and the singer wonders where it all went wrong. They feel blind and lost, unable to understand how the person they loved left them heartbroken. They thought they had found true love, but it was not meant to be. The pain is evident when they say, "Lying beside you, can't feel your body close to me, why do I feel so wrong?"
The song is a reminder that love can be fleeting, and sometimes it doesn't lead to the happy ending we hoped for. However, time can heal the tears that start, and the future holds the promise of new beginnings. Through it all, the singer believes that their broken heart can be mended with time, and the pain will eventually fade away.
