The Night Of Long Fangs
Hekseblad Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

This sleeping village
This dark, cold, damp tomb
Vampiric Hunger
Sanguine fixation
Hiding the bodies
And draining their blood

Hide in your towers
Bar the city gates
Summon the White Wolf
His sum paid in gold
Prefaced with potions
With steel blade in hand
He descends to the crypt
To vanquish our beast

Dubhenn haern am glândeal, morc'h am fhean aiesin

And in the morning
A red sun will rise
Hallowed ground bloodied
The monster defeated

Vampire's head in his hands
Va Fáill, Gwynbleidd

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Hekseblad's song, The Night of the Long Fangs, depict a sleeping village in a dark, cold, and damp tomb, which is being hunted by a vampiric hunger with a sanguine fixation. The villagers are hiding the bodies and draining their blood in a bid to survive. They then hide in their towers and bar the city gates while summoning the White Wolf whose sum is paid in gold. The White Wolf, who is prefaced with potions and a steel blade in hand, descends to the crypt to vanquish the beast. The last line of the chorus, "Dubhenn haern am glândeal, morc'h am fhean aiesin," is a seemingly fictitious phrase in the Elder Speech language from "The Witcher" book series, which translates to "White hair is upon my guide, the sea serpent's is his trail."

The second verse of the song describes the aftermath of the battle against the vampire, where a red sun will rise in the morning, and the hallowed ground is bloodied. The White Wolf succeeds in defeating the monster and holds the vampire's head in his hands while yelling "Va Fáill, Gwynbleidd." The phrase "Va Fáill" translates to "hail victory" and "Gwynbleidd" means "White Wolf" in Elder Speech.
