Can't Take It

I don't need her
Don't need her kind of heartaches and pain
She's gonna have to see
Things now can never be the same again
I won't miss her
She thinks I'm gonna die
Now that she's said goodbye
But she's so wrong, I'll just smile
Baby, baby don't you believe it
When it comes to your loving I can take it or leave it
Baby, baby don't you believe it
When it comes to your loving I can take it or leave it
I can take or leave your loving
I can take or leave your loving
(Do do do do do)
I'm not sorry
I still think we're better apart
She says she's gonna see a day when there's gonna be a change of heart
Baby, baby don't you believe it
When it comes to your loving I can take it or leave it
Baby, baby don't you believe it
When it comes to your loving I can take it or leave it
I can take or leave your loving
I can take or leave your loving
(Do do do do do)
These lyrics tell the story of someone who has ended a relationship and has no desire to continue the emotional pain and heartaches that came with it. The singer expresses that they don't need their ex-partner and that things can never be the same again. While they may occasionally miss their ex, they are confident that life will continue without them, despite their ex thinking that the singer will be devastated by their departure.
The singer asserts that their ex is mistaken in thinking that they still hold power over their emotions. They are not affected by their ex's departure and can simply smile at their misunderstanding. The repetition of the line "Baby, baby don't you believe it" emphasizes the singer's conviction. They affirm that they can either accept or reject their ex's love, implying that they have moved on and can easily live without it.
The singer further emphasizes their indifference towards their ex's love. They state that they still believe that being apart is better for both of them. Despite their ex's hopes for a reconciliation, the singer dismisses it, asserting that they can take it or leave it when it comes to receiving their ex's love. The repetition of the line "I can take or leave your loving" reaffirms their indifference and solidifies their decision to move on from the relationship.
Overall, these lyrics convey a sense of independence and resilience in the face of heartbreak. The singer confidently declares their ability to live without their ex's love, emphasizing that they are not affected by the breakup and have no desire to reconcile. It portrays a sense of self-assurance and empowerment after a difficult ending to a relationship.
