I'm Sitting On Top Of The World
His Orchestra Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm sitting on top of the world
Just rolling along, Just rolling along
I'm quitting the blues of the world
Just singing a song, just singing a song
"Glory Hallelujah," I just phoned the Parson
"Hey, Par get ready to call"
Just like Humpty Dumpty, I'm going to fall
I'm sitting on top of the world
Just rolling along, Just rolling along

I'm sitting on top of the world
Just rolling along, just rolling along
I'm quitting the blues of the world
Just singing a song, just singing a song
"Glory Hallelujah," I just phoned the Parson
"Hey, Par get ready to call"

Just like Humpty Dumpty, I'm going to fall
I'm sitting on top of the world

This is terrific. I LOVE this recording from 1925

It's amazing to think that Mr Kahn was only 18 years old when he recorded this.
He formed his orchestra at 16 years old in 1923

November 13, 1925. The day that my paternal grandmother turned 39. And the previous August, she and my grandfather had welcomed their 5th and final child into the world. It was a boy, but not just any boy. That boy would one day become my father.
