A Los Angeles native, Villalobos's family originates from two different sides of the globe - Cananea Sonora México and Francavilla al Mare on the Italian Adriatic Coast. Rey grew up a classically trained pianist, citing Chopin as his first and main musical influence.

House of Wolves debut album Fold In The Wind presents a warm, ethereal, and poetic collection. While beautifully eerie in acoustic form, the songs are filled with emotional, intricate, and organic sounds, and blended with Villalobos's haunting melodies and tender voice they call to mind Elliot Smith, Sufjan Stevens, and Beach House.

The love of a good dog cannot be measured. As humans, I don’t believe that we will ever understand just how much dogs love us. That’s why I cannot understand how ANYONE could hurt them. The cruelty of some people has no bounds. These people have no soul.

My mother told me a story about when I was just about two years old and we had a doberman pinscher. This was during a different time almost 50 years ago when children were allowed more freedom than today. I had been left to my own devices playing in the unfenced back yard of the house while mom was doing chores inside. She had been doing dishes when she heard two dogs having a ferocious fight in the back. She looked out the window and saw our dog fighting some large stray that had wandered into the back AND I WAS LAYING RIGHT UNDERNEATH THEM. She ran out with a bat and chased off the other dog. She said she had never seen any dog, never mind our dog, fight with the level of viciousness that he displayed that moment. We don't know necessarily what triggered the fight but she thinks it was safe to assume that our doberman must have been protecting me from the strange dog and was ready to die to protect me.

We got a male Doberman puppy a year before our first child was born. He was the sweetest, calmest, and most fun loving creature ever. When our daughter was born, he was so loving and protective of her, it was amazing. He was the same with our next 2 kids. Best dog ever for me! He never was angry once that I ever saw. Their bad reputation is not deserved.

My mother had a Doberman she got from her neighbors who were abusing him. He was the sweetest dog there ever was. I had three kids who were always hugging on him. My youngest learned to walk by pulling her self up and grabbing him. He would walk next to her so she could hold on to him. They went everywhere in the house. When she fell he waited for her to pull herself up and started walking again.

I have had some amazing dogs over the years. They had always been a member of our family. I won't go into details about how each passed on and affected us. Just want to say each one had a special place in our hearts.All my babies were small but brought so much love and joy into our lives. Can't wait to see them on the other side of the rainbow bridge. This story had a good outcome, but leaving a dog you haven’t had but a few days that you know was abused alone with your baby is absolutely crazy. Regardless that she’s watching from the kitchen window, things could go bad in seconds.

Even though this dog ended up saving this baby’s life, it was risky and careless to leave the dog alone with the baby when the dog was still getting acclimated to his new home. Once you’ve had a dog for a while, you learn what your comfort zone is, but a baby is too precious to risk the unknown.

I bought a female Doberman for my two daughters when they were 2, and 3 years old, and this was about 45 years ago. The 8 week old Doberman puppy grew up with my two daughters until she passed away at about 12 years old.

The crazy part of this story was, that dog grew up to be the meanest dog I had ever owned around other people, I had to put the Doberman in her indoor air kennel, the ones that are used if you have to fly somewhere with your dog. I had to do that bc our Doberman would get viscous to people when they come over, she wouldn't allow them to move freely around in our home.

My wife and I, we couldn't understand why our Doberman was so vicious with other people until one day, my wife took the kids to the beach with her mom, and while they were gone, a few friend that our Doberman had never seen before came over, and our dog was completely a different dog, she never growled at them at all, and she ignored their movement in the house like a normal dog will usually do, and that's when it hit me she didn't feel she had to protect me, it was my kids she was protecting all along!!!

Absolutely fantastic story I'm happy to see a great ending here and I'm glad the baby wasn't hurt in the process and the dog survived (I'm a baby and animal lover 😃). People need to think things through before acting many time situations like this call for think first then act appropriately

I have a female Doberman and she is the best dog I've ever had. Smart, silly and playful, but she is also very protective. When my now ex-boyfriend raised his hand to strike me she crossed the floor in a nano-second and clamped on his wrist - stopping him cold. I will always be in grateful awe of her. She is almost 11 years old now - when she inevitably leaves me one day, I know I will be heartbroken and inconsolable. I highly recommend a Doberman to anyone looking for a marvelous pet. Kudos to Kahn!

@Mat Geezer All Dogs can sense fear no matter the breed, I was in Diapers when my parents got a dog a black lab and I was in my teens when I had to put him down and if I was threatened in any way he would strike even my family or on my command, go figure that one out! and labs aren't known for that, I used to ride him like a horse

My old dog Geezer would not tolerate threatening behaviour towards women. The first time it happened I was caught flat footed - we're walking along,a couple are having a row on the other side of the road, the fella must have done something my dog considered not ok. In a flash he's over the road,in front of the woman towards the guy, barring his teeth and growling, he wasn't bluffing "step back NOW or I'm gonna bite you" he was saying loud and clear (and he was a fair sized dog). The fella retreated, I came over and got my dog. I was quite surprised, he'd never been trained to do that, that was his decision. He was an awesome dog.

A friend of mine had a rescue Doberman! He was really lovely, though nervous of my small children so we just kept them apart.
When my friend moved to a new flat on ground floor a very creepy neighbour approached her “ saying “ isn’t a lovely young woman like you nervous to live alone?” She said no I’m not alone I have a Doberman, needless to say his face dropped & she hardly saw anything of him again? Yet when she did the dog would go mad barking! Dogs know people better than we do✊♥️😁
Can’t help wishing more young women had dogs like this, would certainly save a lot from horrible attacks!!

A dog is man's friend - true 8n most cases. The insurance has put a higher rate on some dogs. It depends on breeding - check out parents if possible. It also depends on environment both after they are born and left mom. It have seen both sides of Dobie and pits.
A good dog will give his/her life.

Dobies are also very intelligent. Friends who owned a boating service station/convenience store had one trained to be inside the store guarding it. While the parents tended to their boat’s needs, their little boy went into the shop, and the shopkeeper followed shortly. The boy was sitting on the floor petting the dog and said “I got scared but she sat down. She’s a nice doggie!” Training and native smarts!

During my lifetime, I've owned 11 Dobies. NONE of them were mean or scary. Dick, my oldest was very, very protective of me but never attacked anyone, just gave them the stink eye and that was all that was needed. Only one of my Dobies was ornery and found out he had hip dysplasia and was in pain a lot.

I’m so glad the dog made it through his ordeal. What a good and protective dog….sometimes people see, especially if someone mentions anything negative, only what they think or want to see and thus ignoring other possibilities of other dangers and/or signals. Humanity has become so engrossed with technological wonders, that sometimes fails at the obvious answers. The only real thing to do is look at the heart and soul and go from there.

I had the privilege of growing up with a beautiful dobie called “Riff Raff”. He was so gentle and protective.... he still visits me in my dreams 30 years later! He’s usually leading me somewhere when I dream about him ! I guess he’s always going to be gratefully in my heart !

I grew up with 2 male Dobermans, who were my best friends and protecters. There's no such thing as "bad dogs" (regardless of breed), it's bad owners that cause problems through their own ignorance and/or cruelty.

I’m so glad that this dog was a good adoption. When my daughter, Chris, was 8 months old I went to the local SPCA looking to adopt a dog & give it a good home. When I came across a Dalmatian female, I asked to pet her as I had heard that they were sweet tempered but protective of their humans. There were no warnings on her description card outside of her kennel. In fact, the card said that she was good with children so I chose her & took her home. I made sure that she was never left alone with Chris & everything appeared to be good for a day or two & I had to go to the bathroom quickly. I made sure that Chris was playing quietly in her playpen & the dog, Emma, was curled up asleep in the far corner of the room … more than 6 feet away. I knew that I would only be 1 - 2 minutes so I went into the bathroom & closed the door … almost, as I hadn’t had time to completely close the door when I suddenly heard Chris screaming in terror. I ripped the door open to see Chris standing in the corner of her playpen closest to me & Emma was trying to get into the playpen. I chose to go after Emma as Chris was safer in her playpen than she would have been if I had tried to take her out to put her behind the closest door, the bathroom. Emma was so intent in getting to Chris, she never even was aware that I had moved from in front of her to behind her to grab her collar & then I put her leash on her to drag Emma away from Chris’s kennel & outside. After I took Emma down the stairs & to the tree in the back yard I tied her to a rope already there & then I called my Grandpa & told him what had happened as he was the one who helped me to bring her home. He was furious that the sweet tempered dog had turned out to be vicious instead. The only thing that neither of us could figure out was that she appeared to be gentle with Chris when I was in the room & even appeared to like it when Chris played & crawled over Emma. Even though I dragged her away from Chris & to the tree to tie her up, she never turned on me. After that I hung up with talking to Grandpa I called the SPCA & told them what had happened as well as told them that they had an hour to come & get the dog or my grandfather would do it himself. About 20 minutes later I heard a knock on my door. When I opened up the door it was to find the woman who was the head of the SPCA that I had gotten Emma from. She claimed that I had taken Emma even though I was told that she had been surrendered because she had attacked the small child unprovoked in her previous home & I had been told before I took her that she wasn’t good with small children. My grandpa had been right by my side when I initially decided to take her home so I had a witness to the fact that the card had said that she was good with small children. The woman told me that she would take the dog but my name was now on their “do not adopt” list & if they ever heard of me having any type of pet, even as small as a fish, they would have me arrested & charged with cruelty to pets. I just told her to watch out because Emma only seemed to get more aggressive after she discovered that I had tied her to the tree. I didn’t even bother to watch Emma being taken to the vehicle but I did see that Emma was fitted with a muzzle before she was untied from the tree. I found out about a week later from another SPCA worker that Emma had been put down immediately after they got back as well as the fact that the very woman who had taken me around the kennels to find a pet dog for Chris & I had been ordered by the very woman who had taken Emma back to the shelter to take down the warning that Emma wasn’t good with small children less than an hour before I arrived at the shelter. I was furious when I found that out.
A few years later I got a puppy, I named Bailey, from a family who claimed that she had been given her first shots before I took her home & everything was going pretty good for the first couple of weeks … except for the fact that, even though she was part Lab, she hated bath time. I had given her a bath but I hadn’t put her collar back on yet as she was refusing to let me get close enough to put it back on. Someone came to the front door so I put Bailey in her room at the back of the house & then opened the front door. I didn’t realize that the door to Bailey’s room hadn’t been closed properly & she was running past me before I could grab her well enough to keep her from running off. I repeatedly called her to come back & get ____, her favorite treat but I guess she either didn’t hear me or she just refused to come back as she was so mad at me for giving her a bath. I called the Humane Society & the SPCA several times every day for the rest of that day & the next 2 days without any results. As it turned out. Bailey had been found by a well meaning man shortly after she had run off & he had taken her to the SPCA as he couldn’t keep her & he could see that she was very well taken care of so he just wanted her to be able to be returned to her loving family. Bailey had arrived sometime between my 2nd & 3rd call to the SPCA the very day that she had run off but they kept telling me that they didn’t have a puppy with her unusual markings. I finally was to,d that she was there & had been there since the time between those calls that I said & I got her back. Unfortunately, I learned 2 things that day. Bailey had not gotten her first shots & Parvo was running rampant throughout the local SPCA & the Humane Society. I had to watch Bailey rapidly go from her previously healthy, happy self to almost skin & bones in distress because she couldn’t stand more than a few minutes for any reason to she could only lie on her side while she threw up & had diarrhea coming out at the same time & she couldn’t even swallow the little water I could get into her mouth. She had only been back home for less than 3 days when I called Grandpa to take her to my parents’s place to put her down & bury her there. I carried her out to the back of Grandpa’s truck & lay her down on the tailgate while I was crying & telling her that I was so sorry that she was so sick. Somehow she found the strength to lift her head & smile at me & then died. It was almost like she was trying to tell me that it was okay, that she forgave me & knew that we loved her.
I have since rescued a total of one dog myself & two dogs with my current husband of almost 20 years. He had a rescued dog, Pepper, himself when we met … thanks to Pepper & a paper route that I was helping with. We also have taken back a dog 3 & ½ years after we had homed as a 8 week old puppy because the owner was no longer able to properly care for the dog due to the woman’s ill health & she wasn’t going to get better. That little dog was the identical twin born 3 minutes after the puppy that I had kept from the litter of my husband’s dog that we had rescued first together. As soon as the twins saw each other for the first time as adults, they immediately recognized each other & refused to be parted again. So much for trying to find another “furever” home.That was 9 years ago & we still have the twins & their mother. The pup that was born before the twins was owned by our son but, due to heart problems that only got worse, that dog was suffering so badly he was “assisted” in the ending of his life by their vet. Our son still has his dog’s son & there are no health issues with that dog thus far at the age of almost 10 yrs old.
No matter how short of a time or years with a pet, it’s still hard to loose a treasured pet, whether it is because of ill health or old age, we lose a part of ourselves when our pet dies. We have now lost 2 dogs at home due to old age & 2 to vet assisted release of life due to ill health as well as the dog that our son had. We are looking at the imminent death of my husband’s dog in the coming months as she will be turning 15 September 8th & the older of the twins is showing similar issues with her heart that took her older brother. The most recent dog that we lost due to old age was my service dog, Zara, & she was 15 yrs, 2 months, 1 day, & 15 hours & 10 minutes old when she passed away in my arms due to her heart murmur.

I would tell people who go to that SPCA to do a live stream when adopting a dog from there as evidence if any of the dogs there aren't what is on the paper on their kennels just to use it against them to have the place shut down or the head manager fired. The manager had no right to put you on their "do not adopt" list when it was their fault with the dog.

We had a mix Rottweiler and a doberman mix. Lucy was very protective and so sweet to our grand children. She used to lay down and let them climb all over her. She loved them. She saved me (husband was out of town on business) from getting broken into one evening. We loved her but unfortunately we lost her 3 years ago. I think about her daily. If you treat this breed with kindness you get it back tenfold . They got a bad reputation from people who raise them for dog fights etc. love conquers all!.

My old dog saved my daughter. Just when she was a toddler she got out or gate, coz someone hadn't closed it. But just before she could walk out onto the rode, my little kelpie grabbed her by the back of her nappy & brought her back into the yard! I love love love my dogs soooooooooooooo much!😍😍😍😍😍😍

I ever had woke me up (@3am) just after
my daughter was born.She wasn't breathing right. I got her on the floor, she still didn't seem right. I picked her up, flipped her over & gave her a fairly good

My sister had a Doberman and it was the most sweetest dog do you ever wanted to meet she would put her nose between your legs for security and she will follow you around I want you to live on her own and order and the kids while we’re all over and she did nothing to them she was the most sweetest dog that I’ve ever seen

Yeah, our neighbour had a doberman, and it decided that our section was its territory, and we had to complain to animal control several times after being confronted by the bloody thing on our own property. There was another case of a similar dog getting jealous of a new-born baby getting the attention it had had, so it killed the baby.

I knew a young lady many years ago who had a female Dobie. She was unclipped and was a beautiful dog with her ears and tail in tact. And the Dobie had such a sweet disposition. I attribute it to the fact that she still had her ears and tail. After all, how would you feel if you had your ears and tail cut off. That would certainly put you in a foul mood.

Dogs have great instincts and smarter than many people think! Dog is man's best friend and a great story like this one, proves it! It'll be a very sad day for this family when Kahn's, time will come! Mis-Information in this story is so dangerous that it could cause the death of a child. Never leave an infant/toddler alone with ANY dog. The photo and names used for the snake are incorrect and confusing. A King Brown is highly venemous and aggressive and children should not be unsupervised in areas where they live. My mother's small dog just bit a toddler family member who was visiting recently. I don't know about you but l get very frustrated by visitors to our country who basically know nothing and constantly put themselves in danger while looking for a photo opportunity! Then they get angry or upset when you try to keep them safe.

Look up the story of Beth Gelert, the grey hound, probably a wolfhound, who was killed by his Welsh Prince owner who came home to find his small child missing and the dog covered in blood. Thinking the dog had killed the child, in his anguish the Prince killed the dog, but later found the child hidden safe and a dead wolf nearby. There is a monument to the dog today.

Growing up my parents had a Doberman it was really my brother's, but I was home in a state of depression. However, I got over myself long enough to take him to obedient school from then on; he became mine. I loved him so much. He gave me unconditional love. And got me out of that depression. After 10 years, he got pneumonia. We had to be put him to sleep; to this day, I still think of him and wish I had taken better care of him.

Doberman pinchers by nature are protective not necessarily aggressive They can be trained if it's within their nature. I have had Doberman for years They have only been protective around my kids and older people anyone in need.

Who beats the shlt out of a dog? Theyre one of the greatest animals in our history. Theyre never in a bad mood, the instant excitement when you come home is great, but knowing your just as happy to see them and go play. They really are a unparalleled animal all around. Dogs are smarter and better than people. Let me tell you about Chip 125 pound chocolate lab. My power wheelchair got stuck and I simply said go get daddy. He did just that and he guarded our property. He was a man of a dog. A man wanted to pet him in a campground it was a little dark. I said I would not do that and his reply was he's just a lab. He moved his hand toward Chip. Chip smiled at him the man said ok. Yet my hyper 4 year old niece had grabbed Chip on both sides of his big face he just tolerated it.

I have heard or read about this incident 4 or 5 times over the last few years. It's funny how the story has changed over the years. I tried to fact check the story a year ago and could not find the original news story. So I believe this is a nicely made up story to show what dogs are willing to do for their family.

I can't continue watching this......we just lost our best dog to a rattle snake bite. He grabbed the thing to protect us and it bit down on the bottom side of his tongue. He died the next day and the snake died that night. Dogs are very very special and so very precious. We miss him very much and know he's in a better place.
