See that cat
Yeah I do mean you
See that cat
Yeah I do mean you
She got a TV eye on me
She got a TV eye
See that cat
Down on her back
See that cat
Down on her back
She got a TV eye on me
She got a TV eye
She got a TV eye on me, oh
See that cat
Yeah I love her so
see that cat
Yeah I love her so
She got a TV eye on me
She got a TV eye
She got a TV eye on me, oh
Right on, right on, right on
See that cat
Yeah I love her so
see that cat
Yeah I love her so
She got a TV eye on me
She got a TV eye
She got a TV eye on me, oh
The song "TV Eye" by Iggy Pop and David Bowie is a high energy, rock-n-roll track featuring repetitive lyrics that focus on a cat with a "TV eye" watching the singer. The song's repetitive style and lyrics suggest a hypnotic effect, as if the cat's gaze has an intense and all-encompassing power over the singer.
The lyrics can be interpreted in a number of ways. Some have suggested that the cat represents the all-seeing eye of the media, with its constant scrutiny and control of our lives. Others have suggested that the cat represents a lover or a obsessive desire that has an unbreakable grasp on the singer's consciousness. The line "right on, right on, right on" could be interpreted as an affirmation of the power of the cat's gaze or as a mantra for the singer to ignore it and move forward.
The song's driving rhythm, pounding drums, and distorted guitar create an urgent and intense sound that is both exciting and menacing. The repeated use of the phrase "TV eye" creates a catchy hook that lingers in the mind long after the song is over. "TV Eye" is a classic example of the punk rock that Iggy Pop and David Bowie helped to create in the 1970s and a testament to the power of repetitive lyrics and pounding rhythms to create a hypnotic, irresistible effect.

Love that guitar.

Best version of this song to be found anywhere. I like the bass and drums, and the synth ... high point is when Bowie chimes in with a brief vocal lead

I lent this album around 1980 to a "friend" and never got it back. Nice to see it is on CD- looks like I am ordering it. This one is my favorite from the album. Love that Iggy - he is loud and snotty. He is the original punk.

I had the same situation back in the 90's with 'friends'..

Actually he was loud and proud, he was a representation of the perpetually struggling working class in America, a hard living rags to riches back to rags and then a bit more riches before spiraling back down to his last true "rags" periods of his life in the early to middle 1980s before finding his way back to riches and continues to make music and perform for audiences. I certainly hope he is inspired to do one more good American tour, I've never had the opportunity to see him and I never seen Bowie and never will. Hopefully Iggy can continue to grab his genitals and whip the bird at the grim reaper for a few more years. He is among the last of his kind, part juvenile delinquent, part underground music pioneer, part Warhol inspired performance art, he may be the last pioneer of modern art to come from such humble beginnings. It shows in what he has done too, he inspired a whole slew of artists that made music as a channel for teenage angst, punk, grunge, garage rock, new wave. It's little wonder Iggy was Bowies muse for so long, the two bridged the gap between sophistication and raw emotional hormones, they were dark in the light yet they managed to shine brightly.

Saw the Portland show. In the top 3 shows of all time for me. Did the entire "Lust For Life" album that night as well as a killer "96 Tears"! Thanks for the post!
