"no governmental agency will step in"
THANK YOU! I've been screaming that at the universe for years.

" They use the wrong strategy and the wrong instruments."
How do YOU know? How the F would YOU know what the "right" strategy or instruments are?
One thing you need to learn: IN SPITE of the horrible and totally unnecessary artificial drama created by the History Channel, the WORKERS - i.e. the RESEARCHERS - on the ranch, doing the research, ARE doing science.
This is what science looks like: it is HARD UNCERTAIN, groping around until you CAN make things testable
and repeatable. MASSIVE RESPECT to everyone sacrificing their time, and sometimes health, on this ranch.

To Zikliv:
Stop pushing this massive ASSUMPTION about "government attempting to keep them quiet".
This is Fugal's ranch. He is doing CAPITALISM: spending his time/money in exchange for a reward: new knowledge.
Nothing illegal about that. They would have to do something ILLEGAL for the government to care.

I haven't seen anything done with it big metal structure in the middle of your land that is a vortex or something if you shoot rockets up in you might have one shoe that you

@Carl Grove Well, I'd start by using actual scientific equipment. As an example, I do metal detecting. They used one in an episode on the ranch. However, the metal detector they used, and you can check all this yourself by watching the episode, was the cheapest one that is made. It's called a Bounty Hunter Tracker IV. It's $89 on Amazon right now. Now, go look at the other metal detectors. What do you notice? Most of the other metal detectors are several hundred, and even thousands of dollars. A good detector for the hobby will run you about $500. If you want to use one for a mining operation like they should have in the show, you're talking thousands and tens of thousands of dollars. When I go out I use my Garrett AT Pro, a $900 detector for my hobby. I give my 9 year old daughter the Bounty Hunter Tracker IV so she feels like she's doing something. That thing is literally a toy for children interested in the hobby.

Not to mention, when you open the manual for any detector, one of the first things you'll notice is that it says, don't use around electronics as it can set off false positives. So, what do they do in the show? Take their ultra cheap metal detector, and proceed to use it around an ENTIRE FILM CREW with cameras, battery packs, microphones, wires, etc. You know, all the stuff the manual says not to use it around... The main guy in the show is a physicist. Either he knows this about metal detectors and is just trying to trigger false positives for the show. Or, he's a bad physicist. Pick one.

So, I would start by using the proper equipment for the job and not a toy. I think that would be a good start. For the price they bought the Bounty Hunter Tracker, they could have rented a mining quality detector for the day, but didn't. When I posted this on reddit, that I only noticed it because I go metal detecting myself, and asked for people to do a quality check on the rest of the stuff they used that I wasn't familiar with. Guess what we found? Almost all of the equipment is terrible quality, cheap, and not reliable in a scientific study. If I had to bet the farm, I'd say they are using this cheap stuff for the sole intent to get these false positive signals from varying equipment, and pass it off as anomalous to the gullible viewers.

Carl Grove

@Ken Aultman Please explain exactly how you would go about investigating the ranch using "actual science."

Carl Grove

@Dylan Or did it just reach and enter the anomaly/portal? Given the evidence from an earlier episode that the team's conversation is being monitored, surely talking about and planning this or that experiment is just telling whoever is up there exactly what to expect.

Ken Aultman

@Richard Long as a biologist, this show is about as far from actual science as it gets. It's literally pseudoscience.

When you guys actually find something “out of this world” and the government attempts to keep you quiet, can you take one for the team and let us all know too? Please. 😃

Rose White

They will never catch a Precog as Precogs are spirits and can materialise and demat instantly.
It was a Prcog that deflected the rocket just fo rfun.

Sean Keogh

That would be awesome, but they'll probably be to scared that they'll fall out of an open window, Russian style. 🤣 🤣 🤣
