The story of J-Diggs is so deep that numerous media executives are trying to buy the rights to his life story. Growing up with both parents in his household, Jamal somehow eluded his promising future when his maturity took over his youth. Growing up in the mean streets of the Country Club Crest neighborhood in Vallejo California, he soon found out that his roots and culture ran much deeper than he could ever imagine.
Growing up listening to the likes of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious 5 and later Run DMC, LL Cool J, & Too Short he knew hip hop was where his heart was. After starting rap groups and winning talent shows while appearing on local TV stations around the San Francisco Bay Area J-Diggs was set to make his place in hip hop history.
At the youthful age of 19 Jamal along with 2 friends (Mac Dre & Kilo Curt) were arrested in Fresno, California for a conspiracy to rob a bank. Due to his involvement in the crime J-Diggs received a stiff penalty of 10 years while Mac Dre & Kilo Curt received 5 & 8 years respectively.
While incarcerated J-Diggs started his time off in a Federal Prison in Southern California called Terminal Island. He gained much respect and notoriety in the prison as a Warrior and even more so as a rapper. In 1995 Diggs was shipped out for his leadership role in a violent prison riot that left convicts and prison officials injured. During his "Diesel Therapy" (solitary confinement & surprise prison switches from authorities) Diggs kept everything in stride while bouncing back and forth around the United States to Federal facilities like Louisburg PA, Lompoc Ca, Raybrook NY, El Reno Oklahoma, Fairington New Jersey, Allenwood, Mckean & Schuylkill Pennsylvania.
After their incarceration the trio set out to do the unfinished business of creating one of the worlds most powerful and respected independent record labels; Thizz Entertainment. While returning home Diggs has appeared on numerous TV shows and DVDs such as BETs Oh Drama, Rickey Lake, and recently in 2009 on BETs highly rated TV series American Gangsters "Romper Room Gang". He has also appeared on DVDs such as Hood to Hood, Exhibition of Speed 23109, Too Real for TV #3, Treal TV 1 & 2, Ghostride the Whip, and a list of others.
Due to Mac Dre's untimely demise, Kilo Curt & J-Diggs was forced to step up their game plan. They created a logo of Mac Dre and put together a company named Thizz Nation.
Many people know J-Diggs and many people do not. One thing for sure is that he has the skills to take this rap game to a whole different level. So if you havent heard of him, you might want to in his own words; "Ask About Me"...
Don't Judge Me

Look me in the eyes, see what is inside
And define me
I just wanna feel alive,
Trust me
Don't want you on my side
If you think you got the right to judge me
Judge me...
But you could never feel mine, you
Lighting up the fire, and we need to gas it up
Just to keep the flame alive
And I don't want no more lies cause I'd rather be alone
Than with someone switching sides
Always on the low
When will it be my time to shine
Keep it 100 for me never fake shit
I'll tell you what's inside of me
Now look at what's inside of you
Tell me what you want from me
I'll tell you what is wrong with you
You aint know shit you ain't know shit
What we been through, what we been through
Been in my room screaming low-key
Thinking all night 'bout me and you
'Bout me and you (thinking all night 'bout me and you)
Thinking all night 'bout me and you...
Quitando fronteras derribando muros
Sólo la música y yo, lo demás nunca es seguro
Quién eres tú para juzgarme a mi
Quiero ver la luz en los días oscuros
In the song "Don't Judge Me" by J-Diggs, the lyrics express a plea to not be judged by others. The artist wants to be seen for who he truly is, and not be defined by others' perceptions or opinions. He desires to feel alive and authentic, and doesn't want anyone on his side if they feel entitled to pass judgment on him. The repeated refrain of "Judge me" emphasizes this desire to be seen and understood.
The lyrics also touch on the dynamic between the artist and a girl he is involved with. He acknowledges that he may not fully understand her perspective or feelings, but he asserts that she could never truly understand his. The line "Lighting up the fire, and we need to gas it up, just to keep the flame alive" suggests a struggle to maintain the passion and connection in their relationship. It implies that they need to invest effort and energy to preserve the flame, possibly through emotional and physical intimacy.
The artist expresses his frustration with dishonesty and people who switch sides, indicating a sense of betrayal and disappointment. He yearns for a genuine connection where honesty prevails. The line "Always on the low, when will it be my time to shine" portrays a feeling of being overlooked or overshadowed, and the desire for recognition and acknowledgement.
Additionally, there are lyrics in Spanish which add another layer to the song's meaning. The phrase "Quitando fronteras derribando muros" translates to "Removing borders, tearing down walls." This line suggests a desire to break free from limitations and constraints, and to create unity and understanding. It can be interpreted as a metaphor for challenging societal barriers and prejudices, and embracing diversity and acceptance.
Overall, "Don't Judge Me" conveys the artist's plea to be seen for who he truly is, without being unfairly judged. It explores themes of authenticity, honesty, and the complexities of relationships. The song also touches on the desire for recognition and the breaking down of barriers, both personal and societal.
