Gleason could not read or write music in a conventional sense; he was said to have conceived melodies in his head and described them vocally to staff help. He did likewise with the well-remembered themes of both The Jackie Gleason Show ("Melancholy Serenade") and The Honeymooners ("You're My Greatest Love"). There has been some controversy over the years as to how much credit Gleason should have received for the finished products; it has been written that beyond the possible conceptualizing of many of the songs, Gleason had no direct involvement such as conducting in the making of these recordings. However, his main musical companion, cornetist and trumpeter Bobby Hackett once said: "Jackie knows a lot more about music than people give him credit for. I have seen him conduct a sixty-piece orchestra and detect one discordant note in the brass section. He would immediately stop the music and locate the wrong note. It always amazed the professional musicians how a guy who technically did not know one note from another could do that. And he was never wrong."

(do do-do do do do-do)
The snow is snowing and the wind is blowing
But I can weather the storm!
What do I care how much it may storm?
For I've got my love to keep me warm
I can't remember a worse December
Oh, what do I care if icicles form?
Oh, I've got my love to keep me warm
Off with my overcoat, off with my glove
I need no overcoat, I'm burning with love!
My heart's on fire, the flame grows higher
So I will weather the storm!
What do I care how much it may storm?
Oh, I've got my love to keep me warm
The snow is snowing, the wind is blowing
But I can weather the storm!
What do I care how much it may storm?
Oh, I've got my love to keep me warm
I can't remember a worse December
Just watch those icicles form!
What do I care if icicles form?
Oh-ho-ho, I've got my love to keep me warm
Off with my overcoat, off with my glove
I need no overcoat, I'm burning with love!
My heart's on fire, the flame grows higher
So I will weather the storm!
What do I care how much it may storm?
Oh, I've got my love to keep me warm
In Jackie Gleason's song, "I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm," the singer is expressing how despite the snow storm and cold weather, they are not worried because they have love. The snow and wind are described as harsh with the forming of icicles showcasing how cold it is outside. However, the singer shares that none of it matters as they are kept warm with the love they have. The lyrics suggest that the singer of the song is not physically warm, but they are emotionally warm, which is enough to make the winter season tolerable. The lines "Off with my overcoat, off with my glove, I need no overcoat, I'm burning with love" further emphasize this sentiment.
This song has a clear message of love's ability to conquer any obstacle or challenge, even the harshness of winter. It is a romantic classic with a cozy feel that has stood the test of time. During the holiday season, this song is often played on the radio, in ads, and in holiday movies and shows as it captures the warmth and comfort of being in love during the holiday season.
