Farewell
Jackie and The Pods Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

stand inside your doorway honey I don?t feel a thing
you?re always looking for the best that I can?t never bring
so now I?m gone...
and don?t you ask me why
it?s been so long since I?ve seen you cry
farwell so long goodbye

I jumped out of your window but i fell right to the ground
I wished you would have told me that your man was still around
so now I?m gone...
and don?t you ask me why
you did me wrong lie after lie
farwell, so long, goodbye

Everybody?s talking about the way things ought to be
but there ain?t anybody that makes any sense to me
so now I?m gone...
and don?t you ask me why

I don?t belong but I dont even try
farewell so long goodbye

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Farewell" by Jackie and The Pods tells a story of a failed relationship. The first verse begins with the singer standing at the doorway of their ex-partner, but there is no emotional connection anymore. The partner is always seeking the best from the singer, but the singer is unable to deliver it. The chorus repeats the phrase "farewell so long goodbye" implying that this is the end, and there is no looking back from this point. The second verse talks about the singer's attempt to leave the relationship, they jumped out of the window, but still, they ended up falling to the ground. They wished their partner had told them that her man was still around, suggesting that the partner was cheating. The chorus repeats, and the phrase "farewell so long goodbye" strengthens the finality of the singer's decision.

The last verse breaks away from the relationship and shifts the focus to the world that surrounds the singer. People are talking about how things ought to be, but the singer cannot find anyone who makes sense to them. The singer feels like they do not belong, but they do not even try anymore. The singer's decision to leave their partner seems to have made them indifferent to the rest of the world as well. The song's tone is somber and melancholic, but it ends with a sense of finality and acceptance.

This man is shameless. Everyone deserves a right to privacy and he invaded that right.

Angie

Hmmm so if i grabbed a camera and started photographing a random person in the street, even following them in a cab, its okay? they wouldnt be able to sue me for stalking and invading their privacy?

Love him or hate him, TIME shows us a look into american history.

He was relentless but I don’t think she was always aware with his looong lens. And don’t forget this, celebrities too had a live hate and yes they expected it and did like it sometimes. Glad they were on the front page.

they still edited the video a specific way, which the audience reads as commentary. No journalistic piece is unbiased, not even this one. They do position themselves and I think it's distasteful.

I was looking for videos about Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and stumbled across this, but I have to stop watching it. It seems like such an invasion of her privacy to hear this interview with a man, who gleefully admits that he 'attacks' his subjects, and to hear him talk about invading their privacy. Just horrible.
I don't read celebrity gossip magazines for exactly this reason. Yuck.

poor woman. Rest in peace.

I met Jackie in a antique store in NY . She was very nice and kind to me in the store. She even helped me pick out some items I wanted. Strange she was dead 5 months later.

One thing is clearly evident in every photo: Jackie was a beautiful woman.
