Look, I found her (damn) red coat
Look, I found her

Look, I found her red coat
Look, I found her

Look, I found her (damn) red coat
Look, I found her

Look, I found her red coat
Look, I found her

Look, I found her (damn) red coat
Look, I found her
Damn
Damn
Damn
Damn

I probably shouldn't tell it but
If I, if I let you know

Look, I found her (damn) red coat
Look, I found her
Damn
Damn
Damn
Damn

We goin' hook it up while we talk on the phone
But see, I don't know if that's good
I've been holding back this secret from you

Look, I found her red coat
Look, I found her

Look, I found her red coat
Look, I found her

Look, I found her red coat
Look, I found her

Look, I found her red coat
Look, I found her

I probably shouldn't tell it but
If I, if I let you know

Overall Meaning

"Cmyk" by James Blake is a unique song with minimalist lyrics that hints at the possibility of a secret relationship between two people. The lyrics are repetitive, consisting mostly of the lines "Look, I found her (damn) red coat" and "Damn" repeated multiple times. The song opens with the singer's discovery of a red coat that may belong to a woman he knows. He finds this very exciting and shares this news. However, he doesn't want to reveal too much as he is unsure if it is the right thing to do.

The lyricist seems to be holding back some kind of exciting secret which he wants to share but perhaps can't since it might not be beneficial. The line "We goin' hook it up while we talk on the phone" sounds like some sort of clandestine relationship or tryst. It is unclear if the singer is referring to a secret love affair or if he has discovered something else about the woman whose coat he found. Perhaps the woman is someone he admires or secretly admires, and he is conflicted about how to proceed with his emotions. Overall, the lyrics are shrouded in mystery, leaving much to the listener's interpretation and imagination.

It's great that James has time to play professional tennis and make great music at the same time.

truth via music

it's an (incredible) artist using the tones associated with dubstep to make music outside of the restrictions of that genre. that's why people sometimes call his music post-dubstep...because he took the formula and characteristics of dubstep and transcended the simplicity and predictability of it.

nicely said, dubstep is a LOT more diverse than most people think.

If you guys haven't heard a live version, you should... Ben Assiter's drums add lots of energy to the song!

I used to think "why does everyone think James Blake is a genius? I mean, his music is ok but not extraordinary for me". Well, now I know. I love you Mr Blake.

Sha Sha

i thought i'd be like that with james too but the amount of detail that goes into a good number of his production really adds some replay value, he has challenged how i listen to music in a way i used to think substance was lyrics and lyrics alone but listening to james has me thinking otherwise.
