Worship
James Maslow Lyrics

The way you sway your hips has captured my mind
I'm done with just give me the time
Angel girl, lead me to the light
'Cause everything you do
(Ah, ah)
Worship you, your body
Praying for more
Knees on the floor
Preach the truth, I want it
Scream to the Lord
Worship you, your body
Let me worship you
(Oh yeah)
I question everything that I've ever seen
I don't know how you do what you do to me
I never prayed until you made me believe
Angel girl, give it all to me
'Cause everything you do
(Ah, ah)
Worship you, your body
Praying for more
Testify, be naughty
Knees on the floor
Preach the truth, I want it
Scream to the Lord
Worship you, your body
Let me worship you
(Oh yeah)
Ain't no other girl sexier than you
Nothing but you, no one but you
Angel, tell me what to do
Worship you, your body
Praying for more
Testify, be naughty
Knees on the floor
(Here we go, here we go)
Preach the truth, I want it
Scream to the Lord
Worship you, your body
Let me worship you
(Oh yeah)
Oh, oh yeah
Let me worship you
In “Worship,” James Maslow is singing about a woman that he is deeply attracted to. She represents his dream girl and he believes that everything she does is worthy of admiration and worship. He is drawn to her physical beauty, the way she moves and sways her hips has captured his imagination. James Maslow admits he is done with just merely existing, he desires more time and a deeper connection with this angelic girl. He is willing to follow her anywhere she goes, even if it leads him towards light or darkness. The song continues with James Maslow asking the woman to show him the truth and to let him worship her.
Throughout the song, it becomes evident that James Maslow is using religious language and imagery to describe his desire for this woman. He speaks of praying, testifying, preaching, and screaming to the Lord. These are typically religious practices used to express worship and devotion to a higher power. James Maslow borrows this imagery to emphasize how deeply he desires this girl and how he feels that only she has the power to fulfill him. James Maslow seems to be willing to do anything for her, even get down on his knees.
In summary, “Worship” is a catchy and upbeat song about the deep desire and admiration James Maslow has for a woman. He describes how she has captured his mind, and he is willing to do anything for her even if it means following her into the darkness. He uses religious imagery to describe his desire for her and how he wants to worship her.
