Born in a garage, but raised on the road, Jane’s Party is a musical band from the Greater Toronto Area. With catchy hooks, bouncy beats, and sweet vocal harmonies, Jane's Party combines the spirit of the old with new-age "pop & roll", drawing comparisons to bands such as The Skydiggers, Joel Plaskett and Wilco.
In 2009, Jane’s Party established themselves as the "Folk-pop darlings of Toronto" with back-to-back performances at the Now Magazine Lounge in co-ordination with the NXNE Festival. With dates such as The Halifax Pop Explosion, Toronto Indie Music Week, The International Pop Overthrow Festival, and feature performances at The Horseshoe and Hugh’s Room, the band has played over 100 shows alone in the past year in support of their full length album The Garage Sessions. The album was inspired by two independent tours of Northwest Ontario and Eastern Canada, winning over the hearts of anyone within earshot. The Garage Sessions captures the groups ability to compose feel good songs,"which are clean, direct and glowing with warmth" (John Sakamoto, The Toronto Star). Recently Jane’s Party has found themselves sharing bills with acts such as Steve Poltz, You Say Party We Say Die, By Divine Right, Zeus and more…

Jane's Party Lyrics

I don't wanna believe that we could have done more
When all we cared for's long been gone
And we both know hearts have got to move on
Feels, like we're on our own
With dreams, we kept for so long
All I ever dream of, is a trip to San Francisco
smoking cigarettes out my window
All I ever dream of
is a trip to San Francisco
Driving down the coastline
wishing things could be this simple
When I go, you don't have to believe me
You don't have to regret what you couldn't have known
We drowned our hearts so long ago
And what sinks to the bottom
will wash to the shore
Feels, like we're on our own
With dreams, we kept for so long
All I ever dream of
is a trip to San Francisco
Driving down the coastline
smoking cigarettes out my window
All I ever dream of
is a trip to San Francisco Driving down the coastline
wishing things could be this simple
You can go to where your heart is Or You can go to where you know
The lyrics to Jane's Party's song "San Francisco" reflect a sense of longing, acceptance, and longing for simplicity. The singer expresses a desire to move on from a past relationship without any regrets. They don't want their departure to be missed or to believe that there could have been more done to salvage the relationship. The line "When all we cared for's long been gone and we both know hearts have got to move on" highlights the recognition that the love they once shared is no longer present and that both parties need to find their own paths forward.
The chorus emphasizes the dream-like quality of wanting to visit San Francisco. It represents a yearning for a simpler and more carefree time. Driving down the coastline, smoking cigarettes out the window, and wishing for things to be easy and uncomplicated. The repetition of the line "All I ever dream of is a trip to San Francisco" emphasizes the strong desire for escapism and a break from reality.
Overall, the lyrics convey a bittersweet feeling of acceptance and longing for something simpler and more carefree than the complexities of a past relationship.
